I’m afraid it’s how the smaller clubs will go, holding on to one format players is not financially viable.
That’s not to say I’ll be sad to see him go, always thought he was Mr Reliable and a gun fielder at backward point.

How broke are we?
Great if you are a Sussex player under 25 and willing to play on a small salary as you are guaranteed to start no matter how talented you are. Not so good if you are a Sussex fan and want to see your team win games of cricket

Good call. More driftwood that's being doing little to nothing for two years or more. Who is making these decisions though? Is it the pathway man? If so, he needs to cut himself adrift.

That’s not to say I’ll be sad to see him go, always thought he was Mr Reliable and a gun fielder at backward point. Wouldn’t the bigger clubs be hit harder, no spectators, and extra running costs? Plus it’s not just Briggs and Evans, Wells, Bopara, Brown, Beer, Robinson, Mills and Wright, all play just the one format, so what will happen to them? If we can continue to recruit top OS players like Rashid and Carey, then I’m not sure that Briggs would be a huge loss, especially with Beer and Rawlins providing spin options. Can we insist that some of the others do actually make themselves available to play in all formats?

Very little money is coming into the club ,if any. Money is still going out though. ECB hand out will be small. You don’t have to be Einstein to work out money is very tight and survival is the most important thing. As RA, said about a new coach being appointed, has to look at the finances over the winter and see what next season looks like. Restricted crowds ? How much cricket ? What type of cricket ? Will 100 ball happen ? If next season same as this, do we need a Head Coach ?
Gillespie going financially was a blessing in disguise. Will we being receiving compensation?
Evans going more money saved and almost certain Briggs, Beer and Wells will be leaving. Clayton only signed a 12 month contract. Money should be available for 1 or 2 new players, but all depends on a lot of things happening outside of RA’s control.

If that is the same for all counties, and it became Sussex kids, or scratch eleven v other counties kids, or scratch elevens, then we would still be competitive. Think we could all deal with that

We’ve just seen another player, James Overton, join up with his new county a few months earlier, following on from the Evans situation Several other players lined up, have already made the early move. Also rumours of several out of contract players being lined up by other counties, including our own Danny Briggs. I would hope that we ourselves have a few deals lined up, but if so, who is responsible for identifying what we need? If Dizzy is leaving, we cannot leave it until a successor is appointed to identify targets, or we will be at the back of the line

Who's this bloke talking about moving forward? Not your call, mind your own business. I get Finch, I don't get Wells. If it's the one format thing then bye bye Bopop, Wright, Meaker, Old Man Claydon, Rawlins, Beer, Briggs, Brown, Mills, Jordan and future T20 OS signings. Why wasn't Wells given a the chance to earn a new contract in this joke 4 day comp we've barely turned up in? He was owed at least that. Do one Dizzy, and take that mug Greenfield with ya.

Wells and Finch have had enough chances to prove themselves. With the 2021 season almost certainly going to be shorten, I can seen the BWT happening next season. With no money coming in , I can see Sussex getting rid of more players. Also can see them NOT appointing a coach or signing new players until they know what type of season we will be having in 2021 , playing and spectator wise. All sports face a very uncertain future and I can see clubs folding, the Govt can’t save everyone. Most important is to keep grassroot sports going. Do Sussex need so many back room staff ?

Sussex announce the departure of Luke Wells and Harry Finch at the end of the season. Not surprised about either to be honest. Wells has not played. Finch didn't score enough runs. I can see Wells ending up at Surrey as a replacement for Mark Stoneman who looks set to return to Durham. I cannot see Finch getting another county.
