Thats harsh he was talking cricket in general. I do think he has a valid point. It is something I have heard many times from parents of promising colts. After attending Sussex trials and then getting selected for an age group pleasure of this achievement is dampened by the demand for money. This has certainly been given as a reason for dropping out when I have enquired if a young player was involved in Sussex age groups Do you really think this is only a cricket issue? Fatty says something needs to be done which i agree with but who pays for it? Fatty? Those in glass houses…. And were you calling him that when he was playing for us and performing to a high level?

Matt Prior is a legend of the club and whose views should be respected. Unlike therealab1

Have you got crawled out his backside yet on Twitter yet? Getting a reply from him must have given you a lift once you had to take your Bez Lubala poster down.

Matt Prior is indeed a Sussex and Ashes-winning England legend. We haven’t had too many of those in the past 40 years. I was lucky enough to be at Lords to watch his run a ball century on debut. In my view he’s fully entitled to criticise the club constructively until such time as its fortunes have been restored.

I was listening to Rob Key talk about this on an old SkySports cricket podcast this morning.
There's 2 very different things Key said than Prior did. Key explained the Hundred should fund it and didnt blame any individual for the systematic problem. Prior didnt mentionhow it should be funded and in my opinion just used to take aim at the club.

Here one for Realab…
In praise of the coaches and management our batting has improved remarkably this season
Some good signings in Alsop and the two OS lads and Carter, Clark and Orr continue to get better and better
Lovely stuff!

That's it, I totally get the frustration of not winning matches, I'd imagine the coaching team feel it 10 times more than we do. I find it so hard listening to the we should haves and the we should dos as if the management aren't trying to do it. Some things are impossible. Don't forget the emergence of Clark as a potential batting all rounder, Carter as our long term gloveman, he wouldn't have had the chance if Brown stayed. James Coles 50 last week at a very young age and shortly after finishing his a-levels, archies 4for this season. Yes we need more consistency but the talent is there and ill be delighted to see us become a wining team once that talent has been nurtured, this parts for John, and once we've seen the process through.

There's zero credit due to the your pals in the office on Carter Gordy, they filled the Brown void with an OS, the idiots. The coaches may get some praise but this lad's quality, which many were stating before the season started, was ignored by your mob. And a vital OS spot was wasted as a result. That's the trouble with the points you make Gordy - they're wrong and biased my friend. We are friends aren't we?

Maybe everything might go to plan and these youngsters develop how we want them to, but each season we are losing our best players and there’s now rumours of Oli Rob going as well. Unless this stops we have no chance

Unless this stops we have no chance I agree. There are a lot of good youngsters coming through although Crocombe, Atkins, Hunt still need to improve. However, it’s not much use if they are all picked off by other counties. We are closer to a decent team than we were a year ago. This winter’s dealings will tell us a lot, I feel.
