It's a shame that Beer hasn't been given a chance in this match. Is he never going to play a 4 day game for Sussex again?

That's interesting, opening with Yardy instead of Wells.I haven't listened to commentary, is Wells injured or is this tactical?

16th century partnership of the season for Sussex, between Joyce and Nash, and the 10th since the Northampton game. Confidence seems to breed performance.

Could have done without that lost time as we needed to be 40-50 runs further on, if we're to try and force a result without a deal being struck. 244 off 45 is pretty good going, but we need another hundred or so runs on this pitch

Even 150 in the morning session wouldn't give us much certainty, with Hales in his thunderous form and their array of strong batsmen and the pitch playing flatter and flatter. Let's take some comfort in the thought that in mid-season we couldn't have dreamed of being 200 runs in front of Notts at the end of day 3.

Well batted Nash and Joyce. Well bowled Hatchett and Magoffin. The only winner in this game is the pitch as it is too good for Sussex to win this match.

A great fightback from the boys. Good to know other teams have batting collapses. Notts 100-7. And once more Captain Marvel gets another century and is the second county batsman to score 10,000 runs behind Murray Goodwin's 11,413.
All in all a perfect script. Another quick 100 before lunch tomorrow and put 'em in. We should gleam at least 11 points from this match. A cracking end to the season.

As far as I can tell Joyce has scored, up to last night, 6353 first-class runs, plus 2795 one-days and 529 T20, making 9677 runs of all description for Sussex. Goodwin scored 14, 572 first-class runs plus 6495 one-day and 2200 T20. And of course there have been many other Sussex players in the past to reach 10, 000, so perhaps you mean Batsmen of the 21st Century?

hhs, I agree as I am a bit puzzled too. I gained the info from Bruce Talbot's report on the BBC Website. Perhaps, it's down to interpretation? Ah, after another check this morning "Division One" runs only - that may be it. The naughty BBC - they have changed it from 'county championship'. I suspect an initial BBC typo error. No doubt an angry Bruce (or perhaps an embarrassed Bruce) got on to them late last night to change the facts. Although, I note the BBC still haven't changed Goodwin's number of runs. Not a good day for them yesterday! Joy for JoyceEd Joyce is the second player to score 10,000 Division One Championship runs behind Murray Goodwin's 11-413.

300 off 58 overs, Do we bat until lunch here, there doesn't seem to be any sort of deal agreed
