Jake Libby and Luke Wood set to make their debut. 21 year old Cardiff UCCE and Cornwall batsman Libby has scored 735 runs @ 67 with 112 against Yorkshire two weeks ago, 225* against Warwickshire in mid-July and innings of 100 and 78 against Glamorgan two weeks later. 19 year old Wood signed a two year professional contract on 4th September having taken 32 wickets @ 31 with a best of 6-75 against Warwickshire in mid-July. Sussex have added Beer and Lewis to the eleven who took the field against Lancashire at Hove. www.trentbridge.co.uk/news/2014/september/libby-in-line-for-nottinghamshire-debut.html

Lewis was in the 13 for the Lancs match, so the only change is the addition of Beer in place of Piolet. Presumably this is as cover in case Zaidi's finger is still damaged, and the last place is between Lewis and Hatchett. I'd quite like to see Lewis play again, because he is much steadier than Hatchett and his experience will be worth a great deal.
The Notts team is full of good batsmen, as always, but the bowling is looking a good deal less threatening than before, and certainly won't be a patch on the attack they brought to Hove earlier in the summer. With a little bit of good luck and some steady play we could get another win here and Notts will feel they have nothing to prove after missing out on the Championship.

With Lewis unlikely to be here next season, I think I'd go for Hatchett. Also he offers a bit of variation with his left arm over. Wouldn't be adverse to playing Lewis instead of Zaidi as it's Trent Bridge, but I'd settle for the same eleven

In Championship matches this year, in about the same number of overs, Hatchett has taken 17 wickets for 764 runs, at a rate of about 4 per over, while Lewis has also taken 17 for 546, at 2.66 per over. That's why I'd go for Lewis.

Fair enough that. Hatchett has produced the odd peach of a delivery that has claimed a wicket in recent games, but I agree, he's definitely work in progress. Whether or not his stats indicate it, he's definitely a better bowler than he was last year. Not huge strides, but progress nevertheless.

Nothing is at stake in this match. If we believe in Hatchett's improvement and continued development, we should keep playing him. You might choose Lewis if you were desperate to win the match, but that's a very short term outlook, IMO.

Not huge strides, but progress nevertheless. 17 wickets at 44 doesn't sound good but recently he has been taking some wickets . Last year at Trent bridge, admittedly on a flat pitch, he never looked like getting a wicket. And Lewis, anyon,Liddle ,Jordan, and Piolet are unlikely to be the answer next season. At least two seamers needed.

I am watching the action from the link on the Notts site - slightly behind the commentary but still good!

I bet Nash doesn't want the season to end does he Yeah great start, let's build on it and put them under a bit of pressure in their own back yard

Sounds a great innings by nash, not before time.
If anybody wants two free tkts for Verdi's Otello at the ENO tomorrow night front row of dress circle, please email me. Can't use them as we are away but they are e-tkts and I can email the link and you can print them out. Forgot I'd bought them until the ENO emailed them to me this morning...
Sent from mountbatten's former WW2 HQ in Sri Lanka, now the island's finest hotel!

Three wickets for five runs threatens to undo all the good work
