A word of praise for the much maligned Z who has answered some of his critics in the best way in his last two games. Yes, credit where credit's due, he's done well recently, for both the firsts, and the seconds Still a massively disappointing season for him in general though

This week has seen a return to form for batsmen, Chris Nash, Luke Wells and Matt Machan And Ben Brown, whose valuable middle and late-order contributions have been badly missing for much of the summer. In this game he has helped to add 182 runs while he was at the crease, in the two innings. That's as significant in its way as the big 100s, in ensuring that the early scores are maintained throughout the innings.

Nice one, Wally. Praise where parise is due and all that.
FANTASTIC win AND a good walk with the dog BEFORE the approaching thunderstorm. Goodness me it was nervy out there!

I see my reverse goutmouth worked! Good performance from the bowlers and nice to see a return to form for Luke Wells.

Is that really that bad?

Is that really that bad? That's not a bad average, and his batting stats for the seconds are also good. I guess what I meant was, we were told he could bat anywhere in the top six, which in theory might have allowed us to play five bowlers. In reality, he's a good number eight or nine, but until recently, he's not been entrusted to play a major role with the ball. Perhaps he's suffered, because with Jordan away, we've pretty much been a one man attack. I think it would always be difficult to include him in a four man attack, unless the other three were wicket takers. He's finishing the season well and with another year on his contract, let's hope he can really shine next season. A likeable guy, I would love his spell here to be a success. However, the jury's out for me at the moment

If Prior plays next season then perhaps we could see Zman at 7 in a five man attack

What a win - I got side tracked by the coverage of the referendum and only just checked the score. Imagine my surprise ... Seems hardly believable that we can win so easily now when we lost so easily in the middle of the season. What a great day and it just seems everyday Sussex are getting better and better.
Interesting for the final positions in the CC with Durham (5th and three point behind us) playing Warks (2nd and 15 points in front) at Edgbaston. With a win against Northants and if Warks do not win Sussex could almost nick second. I personally don't think we deserve second and feel sorry for Notts who have fallen since the trophy slipped away. It has been a hard season for Sussex and 2nd place would put a far too shiny a gloss on it.

The innings that Luke Wells played yesterday was most impressive. I've always thought he's had it in his locker to play an innings of that tempo, and in theory, could be a one day regular. Could dropping down the order help him achieve that aim? With the skipper preferring to bat at three or four, it might though leave us with some top order problems.

Oh dear, I've just had a rather disturbing thought regarding Luke. Nottinghamshire have apparently agreed a deal for a domestic top order batsman and are now switching their attention from a batsman, to an overseas bowler. I don't know of any other quality opening bats who are out contract. The fact that, Luke's been allowed to run down his contract is very disturbing. I hope I am wrong about this as I would hate to see Luke leave.

Surely more worrying is the fact that they are after an os bowler and have been talking up Mags all game.....

Surely more worrying is the fact that they are after an os bowler and have been talking up Mags all game..... It would be equally concerning, yes. However, they have been strongly linked with fellow Aussie McKay
