The Sussex bowlers are being taken to task. What on earth did Garton have for his tea? Awful bowling. Rory Burns lapping it up. He’s obviously been told to bowl short, god knows why? Rawlins bowling pies has actually been more expensive than Garton, followed closely by Meaker.

Oh well, Carson has got rid of Borthwick. Have they got a rookie come in at no.3 so we can pick up a quick second wicket? Oh no, it's Hashim Amla.

Burns and Smith gone in the first 2 overs after the bad light. Good little comeback!
Edit...Add Finch to that too with Foakes digging out the hat trick ball!

Well bowled Henry Crocombe, deserved those wickets,
I think we’ve found our wicket taking spinner too, great stuff from the youngsters.
Sign them up quick!

Robin Hobb: Diplomacy is the velvet glove that cloaks the fist of power _________________________________________________________
Jason Gillespie has joined Adrian Harms on commentary, allowing various questions to be asked from emails and Tweets sent in by supporters. As expected, only soft ball ones are chosen.
What have we learnt so far?
Next season Travis Head and Van Zyl "will be" coming to Sussex CCC, but no David Wiese, although there might be an outside chance of Wiese joining the Club for the T20 tournament. No mention of Rashid Khan. Then, Joe sends in a question about Khan and we learn he will not be returning to Hove. Also, little chance of seeing Archer playing for Sussex this season given his England commitments before then leaving for the IPL.
JG uses the diplomacy card, as expected, eulogising about the coaching staff, saying they "are fantastic" and the leadership of Rob Andrew and Keith Greenfield are "superb". And former Club Chairman, Jim May, then rounds it off by sending in glowing praise of Gillespie.
Meanwhile, JG rightly praises some of the youngsters coming through including Crocombe and Carson.
Send in your tweets.
Adrian Harms @adrianharms
PS: Mitch Claydon has been accused of "not properly' using the hand sanitiser surrounding a previous match, so the Club has dropped him for now, until the issue is resolved.
The mind boggles.
WOW! Our 16 year-old takes his first wicket on debut. Foakes is the man.
JG now carries out a "praisefest" about Captain Ben Brown. Superlatives galore including "Brilliant" and "Fantastic". Brings in Luke Wright to the equation. Then says, "Such a hard decision to leave the Club. Such potential for the squad. Supporters should be optimistic for the future."
On to veganism. A vegan writes in and describes Gillespie as the "Best Coach in the world" and JG votes 'Cafe Chilli' as a top vegan outlet in Brighton.
At lunch: Surrey: 259-6.
"A little envious of the coach who will take over from me. I will follow the Club with great interest as a supporter. I am very excited by the Sussex future," continues Dizzy.
Adrian Harms then ends the chat with JG saying how appreciative he is of the Aussie being open to press interviews, chats etc..
Wow, I cannot remember hearing so much glowing praise within a 50 minute conversation. Certainly, makes a refreshing change from all the negativity in the world.
A magic moment for James Coles

They obviously made the decision on Wiese before these last few games where he’s got runs in both red and white ball games. While van Zyl is a superb batter I still think Wiese offers more but it sounds as if they’ve at least got a plan going forward.
Thought the comment by Dizzy that they’d had to make some very tough decisions was interesting, I wonder if that was Wells being released?
Anyhow, the youngsters keep impressing in this game, 2 bowling points and 4 wickets to go.

I reckon Harry Finch is on thin ice too.

My take on it is Van Zyl is contracted beyond this season and Wiese's probably runs out? Could be wrong though. Shame to lose either of them but Travis Head might not come now Dizzy is going.

I reckon Harry Finch is on thin ice too. It pains me to say it but I imagine Finch was on thin ice even before the COVID induced season we've had this year. Also I think Carson has been the pick of the youngsters this year. Taking 14 wickets so far at a bit over 22.

I have a sinking feeling about Sussex's second innings. The Surrey spinners may dominate with a pitch tickling the ball.

Very prophetic WC, 46/4 as I write, a lead of 73.

I repeat my point about needing to strengthen the batting. Good news about Head and Van Zyl on that note👍
