I think some of the criticism of Gillespie is very harsh. We currently have four players with the England squads: Jordan, Archer, Robinson and Salt. Has this ever happened to Sussex before. How many other counties can rival this? Surely Gillespie deserves some credit for this? And it is one of the problems of cricket here is that counties can be significantly weakened by having players selected for England. Jason, is that you?

That doesn’t excuse the batting performances, nor some of the strange selections.

No I am not Jason!!
My view is that we should take some pride in the fact that we have 4 players in the England cricket squads. This surely reflects well on Gillespie. But it will inevitably make us weaker. And it is a bit crazy. Can you imagine Liverpool competing in the premiership without their four best players?!

We have gone backwards under dizzy so all the criticism is totally fair. Thank god he is going. He can take Greenfield with him.

Perhaps, a little unfair. There are a number of reasons why we ended bottom of our group. Gillespie is not to blame for all our Championship woes. The decline has been occurring for 6 or more years now.

Mark Robinson left a sinking ship and Mark Davis drilled more holes in the hull.
Dizzy has been treading water since but there must be some credit for Salt and Robinson’s rise to higher honours, Jordan and Jofra were already there.
Although he professes to love the county game I honestly believe Dizzy is a T20 coach, and a good one.

Gillespie's had no directive in the CC, he's overseen the inevitable. His spec was win the T20 & do what you can in the CC. So his legacy is dependant on this season really. He has to win the T20 to be any kind of success now. What is it, his 3rd or 4th attempt? We've had one of, if not the best, T20 side in the land for the last 3 or 4 years but haven't won a thing - so this year is a must for him. Or at least our view on him, he'll be alright either way.

Gillespie’s third season. T20 team would be one of the strongest if we had Khan, Salt, Evans, Head and others, but I’d say we’re weaker this season.

From what I've seen of other sides' line-ups we're definitely top five on paper. A few crippling misses have hit us lately - Salt & Jordan in particular. I guess Salt's back from Wed/Thurs - might be out of nick though.
