I'm glad you added your very final line.

Garton and Orr both local lads both been with Sussex since the age of 9. Both gone under a black cloud.
We need a statement or an interview from Filby and Farbrace.

Could it not be as simple as: Hants: ‘Ali, we are a bigger, better club offering more money and better international and franchise prospects. Plus you won’t have to move house. Fancy joining us? ‘ Orr: ‘ Yes please’ It is entirely possible there is nothing Sussex could have said or done to keep him. This is not a defence of Sussex more a comment on how crap we have become. Fair point but, as with Garton, there’s no loyalty to the brand. Something is going on that we’re not privy to. There’s an undercurrent of toxicity surrounding our wonderful club and I hate it! Not sure Orr leaving says anything more than confirming we are small fish now. Worcs, Derbys, Leics and others have been ransacked for years. That’s where we are now. That said, IF the club and Orr fell out over a contract and that’s primarily why he’s going, then it is another example of club mismanagement. We may never know.

Appears even with a new coach there is still a toxic environment at the club. I suspect Rob Andrew’s departure came too late , to persuade Ali to stay.

What do you want them to say though Joe, this is my issue if you don't agree with what they say you'll say they're hiding something. It is very difficult this and in my honest opinion I really don't think it's down toxicity because we still actively attract top overseas players. I do agree we need to be told the truth and from what I gather from a recent chat with Keith there's a few there that also want the truth to be told. Biggest worry for me is this is the beginning of transfer fees in cricket.

Maybe is is just simply Orr considers we are a crap run club and wants out.

How terribly depressing. One of the players held up by the club as an example of their strategy to nurture talented home grown players…and he’s left us, just when we most need him. Time for marching indeed….in Orr’s case, to the Rosebowl!

Get rid of all our decent senior players because we're going to fill the side with kids and they'll all stay because they're all mates and they're very tight....yeah right.

I really didn't want to believe this would happen. Good luck to Orr; though I think he has jumped the gun. Needed one more season at Sussex to prove consistency. Loyalty to one Club is rare these days. I hope we don't panic and recruit a player that will inhibit the younger talent we still have.

We need to sign a player to improve us and fill the holes. Not sure any signing would inhibit the younger talent we have, it will make them fight for their places, something they've never had to do.

Heard a rumour he wanted double his current salary, to me his head has been turned by Pants. Yes its sh1t but we move on now and replacements searched for.

I fear this is a template the guys in Comms will be returning to between now and the start of the new season……first Garton, now Orr. Who will be next to jump ship?
“Everyone at Sussex Cricket would like to wish (insert name of latest disillusioned player) all the best in his career moving forward”

Remember, he started as a blocker. Then suddenly he could smash it around everywhere. It wouldn’t have done him any harm to stay longer at Sussex, especially after the injuries. but it won’t be long before he gets international recognition. He’s a genuine three-format player. The club should take credit for a lot of this.

I do know that was the case with Salt who left because the club were going no where
