40-4. Brown goes. Not much you can say...

Tough first game for Sussex. Batting line up is very brittle. Why did Brown chose to bat first?

50 for Haines out of 64-4. If he scores 200, we are definitely in this game.

Congrats to Haines. A really gritty 50. Yes, he's been dropped twice, but neither were easy chances. A glimmer of light amidst a disappointing morning's play. At Lunch: 66-4 (Haines 52*, Rawlins 5*)Scorecardwww.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/scorecard/ECKO49933

Well batted Mr Haines. There are fine lines between success and failure. He deserves his luck. As for the rest of the top order, poor show. Need to find another opener from the talented youth waiting in the wings; not Mr Beer.

Serious question: who will be the second Sussex player to get a ton this season?

Stiaan the Man.

Haines gets his third life, but you need luck in this game.
Tea: 194-6 (Haines 122*, Robinson 32*)

Well batted Tom, a fantastic 100. Good support from Ollie Rob too.
Apart from Hants who are whooping Leicestershire, our score looks about par.

A little disappointing that the live stream figure today is low: Presently at 1,810 viewers, particularly when this is the first day of the season. Agreed, people are at work which makes a big difference. Interesting to see what the figure will be for Saturday.
Sussex gain their first batting point which looked dodgy two hours ago. Surely, 250+ is on the cards now?

Great stuff from Haines and Ollie. Century partnership comes up and Robinson needs just 3 runs for his 50. Appointing him Vice-Captain is already showing rewards and his 50's up. Now record 7th wicket partnership for Sussex against Lancashire.Well done Tom Haines...

Ollie Robinson would be better!

Before the game started, I would have settled for 291. After an hour’s play this morning, I would have settled for 200. All in all, an OK day against a decent side. Tomorrow, we find out who can contribute to taking 10 wickets.
