What a great photo from yesterday. Garton dismantles Tom Kohler-Cadmore's stumpsMeanwhile, Phil Salt is out of his surgical boot and is walking freely now, according to Adrian Harms . Unfortunately, Sean Hunt has a side-strain and won't be bowling in the second innings, but young Jof has abandoned the IPL and may be playing not one but two county games for Sussex as part of his rehabilitation leading up to the NZ Test series.

Incredible. Jack must believe he's dreaming. Not only is our Irish lad bowling against former England batsmen, but the 20 year-old now gets the England Captain out after first taking the wicket of Kohler-Cadmore. Amazing story. The world could be Jack's oyster in a few years. What a signing for Sussex. Yorkshire (in effect) 43-3. Fantastic fightback from the club when a bowler short, although is Garton suffering from his sore heel problem again? Just gets better. Yorkshire (in effect) 63-4.15 overs left in the day. Another wicket would be nice. PS: Interview with Jack after the day's play. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXOSTvZpczQ&t=29s

Honours even I would say as Yorkshire finish 92/5 Well bowled Jack Carson. Well bowled indeed.
Although the pitch appears to be perfect for batting, the scores from this match indicate that conditions vary between ok and tricky. As Joe said, honours fairly even so far. It's on a knife edge and difficult to say which way it'll go, but there will be a result.
Whichever way it goes, I'm pleased with Sussex, who've done better than expected against a strong side ... and we haven't had to rely on Ollie! Really good for the future. Go Sussex.

Completely agree, I’m loving this cricket it’s a real treat. Just what was needed after a bleak winter for many reasons.
Win lose or draw, to compete against one of the strongest side in the country and not look like the whipping boys of late makes the chest swell with pride.
GOSBTS!

If Sussex can restrict Yorks to a less than 200 lead then job done. Yorks are a strong side and I think Sussex have the advantage so far, but only just. It is a worry that Hunt is injured, curse of the fast bowlers. He may need to be wrapped in cotton wool for a while. I did find it strange that Surrey didn't want to keep him, as so far he looks a good prospect. Carson continues his good start to professional cricket. Part of me thinks that Yorks came to Hove thinking that Sussex were going to be easy opposition. We have already shown that is not the case and let's hope we can get the win. I have thought for some time now that there is very little difference between all County sides, and on their day the so called lesser Counties can beat those in the top tier.

230 lead for Yorks at lunch. Ouch, tail wagging. Mind you Willey is a pretty decent number 10. Is Crocombe injured? Is Brown trying too hard to get a 5 wicket haul for Carson? Can't help feeling that Brown has allowed this Yorks partnership too easy a ride.

So 305 all out and 235 to win.
C’mon Sussex dig in.

Adrian Harms describes this as "a compelling game" and "the county championship at its best." I agree. It is wonderful to watch Sussex competing again against the very best. Even if Sussex lose this match, I feel proud to be a club supporter which I have not felt for awhile. Well done Jack for your fifer. Well done Ian Salisbury for turning things around so quickly. GOSBTS! We are really going to see what Thomason and Haines are made of in this session. When the going gets tough, the tough get going...Oh Thomo... Sussex: 45-1Mental toughness takes time to grow and mature. Sussex: 64-2

Complete out of character rush of blood from Thomason. He'll learn. 190 to win with 9 wickets to go. What a game.

Help. 85 for 5 now. Delray golden duck. He needs to go back to the drawing board. Take a break and occupy the crease for the 2s. All is not lost yet. Brown and Garton are both capable.

51 run last wicket partnership looking very costly now.
When is Travis Head arriving because Rawlins definitely needs to be dropped to the 2XI? I would give Ali Orr a game instead if Head is unavailable.
We need Brown and Robinson to knock off the remaining 99 runs.

The 50 partnership comes up then Garton falls to give Bess his 5fer.
I was beginning to have some hope but I think it’s too much to ask now with 99 to win and only 4 wickets remaining.
Still a great game of cricket which has ebbed and flowed and no disgrace losing to a very strong Yorkshire side, lots of things to be encouraged by in this young team.
