Despite only picking up 4 points we are still only 11 points behind Yorkshire who are in second place behind Lancs.

Adrian Harms describes this as "a compelling game" and "the county championship at its best." I agree. It is wonderful to watch Sussex competing again against the very best. Even if Sussex lose this match, I feel proud to be a club supporter which I have not felt for awhile. Well done Jack for your fifer. Well done Ian Salisbury for turning things around so quickly. GOSBTS! We are really going to see what Thomason and Haines are made of in this session. When the going gets tough, the tough get going...Oh Thomo... Sussex: 45-1Mental toughness takes time to grow and mature. Sussex: 64-2Agreed, Salisbury has made a difference. If he can hang around and oversee the youngsters coming through the future will be bright. He comes across very well; honest and humble. The jury is still out on Kirtley. What on earth does Mr Greenfield do? The question you need to ask is what doesnt Mr Greenfield do, relentlessly busy. Another strong performance considering players unavailable too.

I’ve been perusing social media since the end of the Yorkshire game and, overall, the optimistic feel from this Forum, prevails elsewhere. This tweet from Luke Wright is a typical example. Luke Wright@lukewright204 All the coaches and players did a fantastic job this winter, making big strides. Proud of the impact @biglad101(Ashley Wright) is having on the young batters! Not surprised! Of course, it helps when Ashley Wright just happens to be your big brother. Onward to the next game against Lancashire at home. Yet, improvement is never one long upward curve, so expect a few hiccups along the way. Delray Rawlins looks the most vulnerable of the players and, perhaps, needs a few games in the 2nd XI to help with his batting. I still feel he is a white-ball player only as he lacks the discipline to be a Championship cricketer. This applies to Phil Salt also, but given the small squad and, no doubt, the array of player niggles throughout the season, this simply is not possible. So, who could replace Rawlins for the Lanky game? Travis Head is the obvious answer, but the club website suggests the Aussie will first be available for the away game against Northants on May 6th. So, Rawlins will probably be given another chance on Thursday.
