Be careful what you wish for! Mills entire reputation is based on a televised match against England when he bounced Swann amongst others. This will have been the only time most journalists will have seen him as they never watch division two county cricket. His statistics are very moderate. He has never taken five wickets in an innings and has an awful injury record. Most on the unofficial Essex board are quite happy to see the back of someone they put on a par with Maurice Chambers who has hardly set Northampton alight. Of course a new county may alter things but if he does miraculously improve then England will snap him up as they are desperate for a left armer. There is chris liddle.

Tweet from Steve Hollis on Mills : < "I understand they've (Sussex) made a good offer but Lancs also interested. Location and division one cricket in @sussexccc's favour" >
One can also imagine Robinson will be telling him "I can make you the next Chris Jordan".
Dobell says Mills will sign for Sussex or Worcs.
Someone should ask SH to clarify the Luke Wells position. Steve, we know you regularly log on here - so over to you...

In his 10.45am update on Cricinfo, he says Sussex are leading the chase, and Wor are another county interested. That does not exclude other counties as you seem to imply.

Get a life, sussexfan. I didn't actually "quote" if you want to be pedantic. I paraphrased that cricinfo suggested Sussex and Worcs were vying for Mills' signature ; their report doesn't mention anyone else. But as you so sagely point out, that doesn't mean Bedfordshire, Devon, Norfolk or even Lancashire won't come in for him at the eleventh hour. In fact, he could sign for bally anyone who puts enough cash on the table, so perhaps we shouldn't even bother having a thread about it. Jeez...

Actually, there's a fourth. Unless we sign an OS all-rounder, we can't field five bowlers. Of course we can, Prior sorts that out. Prior for 3 or 4 full seasons could be the key to success - batting 5/6 and keeping. That could not only bring in a Piolet/H-P type player at 7 but gives hope to Beero at 8 too. If it's the first scenario it could be Zaidi at 7 and four proper bowlers - obviously I don't favour that though. Getting Mills could be big too, just hope we don't have to sacrifice Wells to do it. Pretty sure we'll have to sacrifice someome, we have too many batters, but H-B's no doubt a bigger earner and if neither of them are out of contract it should be him, really. Anyway, Prior brings masses of options as welll as his class, experience and hunger. Hunger that I doubt can be fullfilled but if he doesn't agree with that I hope he's famished.

Intriguing comment from Glos coach John Bracewell, suggesting that there are plenty of recruitment options available to a club with money to spend. He's reported on the BBC Sport web site as saying : "It is a bit of a buyer's market out there at the moment. There's a lot of cricketers available but it's whether they fit into our price range and skill set."

Not really. Would you expect to hear anything on a Saturday? I wouldn't.

We know the position....he appears to have several offers including sussex, worcestershire and lancs.
You would expect him to meet with them and discuss these offers before deciding and that takes a little time.
It's quiet for everyone.

Lancashire maybe eyeing him up to provide support for when Chapple moves on and despite Kyle Hogg retiring sadly, Kyle Jarvis hasn't really kicked on as much as they'd have liked, so I can see a space for Mills but they're in division two now. Worcestershire maybe have a space for him alongside Shantry and Morris as seamers, but I reserve judgement on him due to the amount of injuries he's suffered in the past, but if he does join us, I hope Robbo's skill of rejuvenating injured players like Anyon and Jordan works a trick.

Meanwhile back in the real world where not all is Pietersen or Flower, this tweet from Steve Hollis suggests there are still possible negotiations for Mills to come to Sussex:
Fast bowler Tymal Mills says he would love to work with @sussexccc coach Mark Robinson again - full story in The Argus today
Has anybody read a print copy? Not up on their web site yet.

No, as you say nothing on the Argus website, just four different stories about Pietersen and Prior, one for every day of the week so far - including a slightly double-edged defence from Robinson who says Prior is not a bully but admits that his desire to win sometimes comes out in "not quite the right way."
Prior's best answer will be to take plenty of flying catches off Mills bowling at 90+ mph down the slope from the Cromwell Rd end next season!
ps : Thinking about Prior keeping for Sussex has made me wonder if Ben Brown has signed a new contract for 2015 yet?

Online now: Speed king Mills likes the look of Sussex , but "The 22-year-old expects to make a final decision in the next fortnight once he has got to the bottom of an ongoing back injury which limited his appearances for Essex last season......I’m not quite over the injury yet which is delaying things too. Counties have to take that into consideration before committing to a deal which is understandable and I don’t want to do anything until everything is clear."
He sounds full of confidence and fairly upbeat, and very clearly wants to get the best deal he can. I suppose Robinson has to look at whatever evidence he can about the injury and make up his mind if this is likely to be another Jordan or just too mich of a gamble with limited resources. Let's hope he gets the balance right.

Tymal Mills:"There are a few things to be sorted out before I make a decision. You’ve got to weigh up whether it is a good place to play cricket *, what the wicket is like to bowl on**, and whether you are going to get opportunities to play***. I don’t want to be going to a county with ten other fast bowlers****, so there are lots of things to take into consideration. You’ve also got to decide if it’s a place you want to live*****."
* Yes. Especially if it includes Arundel and Horsham as well as Hove. And you will have the best, most consistent seamer in county cricket at the other end and his nagging line and length will get you lots of wickets. Think David Masters, only better.
** Depends which strip. On the relaid ones, you will be able to bounce the ball miles over the heads of both batsman and The Big Cheese (who promises not to bully you). You will enjoy that (especially if you can follow up next ball with an unplayable yorker).
*** If you're fit, you're in. Even if you're not fit, you may still be in because after Magoffin, we are really struggling!
**** Don't worry about that. Just ensure that you are better than at least eight of them. That really won't be too hard.
***** Fab place to live. Did your team mate Monty not tell you about the attractions of the Shoosh nightclub, its friendly bouncers and the gourmet seafront pizza parlours that are apparently open all night? Worcester is always flooded and in Manchester it always rains. On the tropical, palm-fringed beaches of the south coast the sun always shines and there's never even a shower (except when Monty is about).
We look forward to seeing you next April!
