George Dobell suggesting he might leave Essex this winter. Could he be of interest to us? Perhaps not the bowling all rounder to replace Chris Jordan but seen as enough of a prospect to be involved in the England Emerging Players set up.

Hope so but he will be snapped up by a Surrey, Lancashire, Notts Maybe, but I think we'd have a chance especially when he sees what the move has done for Chris Jordan's career. Surrey, I don't think will be in the market for another seamer, ditto Lancs, who may well be back in the second division, and Notts, well they are favourites to land Gidman. All I know is, we need a seamer to ease the workload on Magoffin when CJ is away, we won't get Gidman, and there are unlikely to be much better than Tymal Mills if he were to become available

Mills is always injured. Look at his stats. He is only mentioned because the press went mad about him last winter when he was asked to bowl to England in Australia. He actually has done very little.

This is true, but I suppose we'd be signing potential It's whether we consider he has the raw materials to work with, and a lot of cricket people suggest he has. Don't forget, he was also a relatively late starter

Jordan was also always injured prior to signing for us. We need more specialists rather than bits and pieces all rounders.

Doesn't look like we're in for him, the rumour is, he's going to Worcestershire.

Wherever Mills ends up, you can guarantee it will be a first division county.
He's just the latest fast bowler to bale out of Div Two at the first opportunity. Every decent quickie to emerge in the lower tier in recent seasons has refused to renew their contract - Gurney, Harris, Coles, Mills and Buck among them. All will now be playing first div cricket next season (apart from Buck, who thought he was signing for a first div county, but Lancs then got relegated).
Just about the only genuine quickie left in div two is Footit and he will be off to div one after he sees out his remaining year at Derbys. As a result Div Two batmsen now have no chance of progressing to international level because they get no experience of facing anything over 80 mph. Sam Northeast is a good case in point. He made runs for fun against the powder puff medium-pace attacks of div two in 2014, but as soon as he came up against Boyd Rankin in the RLC, his technique was exposed as hopelessly inadequate - he hadn't got a clue how to deal with his pace and was made to look like a complete numpty. Hardly his fault - it was the first time all season he'd faced anyone with that extra yard.
Are Sussex in for Mills?* If his problems can be ironed out (and who better than Robinson to do so?) he would surely be a good substitute for Jordan.
* on edit : yes and favourites to sign him according to this morning's Daily Telegraph.

Be careful what you wish for! Mills entire reputation is based on a televised match against England when he bounced Swann amongst others. This will have been the only time most journalists will have seen him as they never watch division two county cricket. His statistics are very moderate. He has never taken five wickets in an innings and has an awful injury record. Most on the unofficial Essex board are quite happy to see the back of someone they put on a par with Maurice Chambers who has hardly set Northampton alight.
Of course a new county may alter things but if he does miraculously improve then England will snap him up as they are desperate for a left armer.

His stats are probably a concern, as is his injury record. However, didn't we say the same about Chris Jordan, I know I did

He seems to think he will be coming back to play Essex as an opponent, which suggests another club, perhaps Lancashire:
Tymal Mills @tmills15 · 15h 15 hours ago
I'd like 2 thank everyone @ @essexcricket especially the fans who are class to play infront of - will be interesting returning as the oppo!

Wouldn't read anything in to that; I think it's a generic thought rather than a specific reference to any particular fixure he's looking forward to next season. The two counties I've now seen mentioned in the public prints as seeking his signature are Sussex and Worcs. I'm not over concerned about his record to date, either. The Jordan precedent is pointed out by Jonboy. I'd imagine Robinson is saying, "Give me someone who can bowl at 90 mph and don't worry about anything else - I'll sort out the rest."
