Who was the alternative in this game? Personally, another bowler in either Crocombe or Atkins. Yeah that would have worked, i do personally like the balance here as Rawlins provides a bowling option too.

Atkins pulled up with sore shins in his last game hence why he’s rested.
68/2 at lunch. After putting them in I’d have liked at least 4. Garton a little wayward at times but he’s had more chances than Robinson.
I’d say first session to Kent.

Can't get the live stream this morning - even when using WC's link. Anyone else having a problem (that's relevant to this post!)?

WOW! The more "bad light stop play" intermissions the better. Since returning, Kent have collapsed from 70-3 to 112-7. The only disappointment being Ollie Robinson b Ollie Robinson never happened. We must await for the second innings. edit: Off they go again.

113/7 as they come off for rain.
3 wickets for Garton in this spell. Slip catching has been good.
Sussex now in command.

Well bowled Sussex. Honours even amongst the bowlers.
Kent all out 145.
Ooerr about this last hour or so of Sussex batting. Hopefully, bad light or rain will intervene, sooner rather than later.

Well done Sussex. Firstly video coverage has been good. New camera very clear.👍 Good effort to bowl Kent out for low score. First innings lead of 150 should see us home. I hope Rawlins gets some runs. Wasn't needed as a bowler. Another low score could take him over the edge. Still think Sussex could have given an opportunity to an up and coming batter. Kent's attack doesn't, so far, look too spicy.

Pleasing Sussex performance so far. Good to bowl Kent out for 145 with fairly even honours between our bowlers which is a positive. Fielding was of a high standard, and thought our attitude and enthusiasm to get into position quickly between overs, which effectively controlled the pace of the game, was impressive.
Solid performance to bat out the end of the day with tricky conditions without too much drama.
Suggest slight advantage to Sussex after the first day. That said, morning session conditions could be challanging and we need to consolidate and press ahead. Hope Travis Head gets some serious time at the crease to acclimatise with early season UK conditions.
Really enjoyable days cricket. Go Sussex!

Lucky Travis - easy slip catch - dropped on 10 runs. Is this the moment his Sussex career begins? At present, the English conditions are proving difficult for him to adjust to. Appears nervous and uncertain at the crease.
Sussex: 71-2
edit:
100 up along with the 50 partnership.
Wicket
No surprise Head is out. Very out-of-sorts. Stevens won the contest.
103-3

Anyone else think that that was missing leg-stump?

Am,
Imho, after closely reviewing the replay, the ball was hitting leg stump.
I have found watching, at times, quite excruciating this morning especially when Stevens was bowling. It felt like a wicket could fall almost every ball. Apart from van Zyl, the bowlers have been in control of the batsmen, so given these conditions, the Sussex situation could be a lot worse.
Parity achieved, only two wickets falling (so far)... with lunch being taken at 1.10pm, this morning has been a good one for us.
edit
(At lunch) 162-4. An excellent morning for Sussex.

Sussex need a body language coach. Ok, Clarke got a rotter. But his slow walk off was embarrassing. Come on young man, you batted well. Head up and back yourself for the rest of the match. Salisbury, Kirtley need to sort this out.
