Having Head as captain makes sense. We are still short of a solid batsman and a fast bowler, in my view. Finn, Atkins, Garton and Hudson-Prentice might look good enough but I doubt Finn and Atkins will be fit for every game. Further, like Robinson and Archer, we should treat Garton as a bonus if he is available.

I am surprised how quickly supporters on this Forum have forgiven Travis Head on his dire County Championship performance last season.
He amassed just 183 runs from 11 innings and garnered an average of 18.30. This
was partly helped by his highest score of 49*. For someone of Head's stature, this
is an humiliation.
Compare this to Ollie Robinson's stats from exactly the same number of innings
of 250 runs at an average of 35.71.
It is blatantly obvious Head can't play in English conditions, so what will change
next season?

Agreed. He must do better with the bat. But, let's hope he learnt from last season. I back him to do well in ALL formats. Moreover, he can bring more top drawer experience and continue to pass it on to the younger players. His body language around the team last year looked good. Let's see. Remain positive.

It was an excellent evening, no question was off limits and both coaches were very open and honest Salisbury said that Brown is contracted for another 2 years so can’t go anywhere!

Good. If that Sussex official who used to come on here is right about Pujara, no problemo. Welcome. But you gotta bat at four.
No problemo with the coaches either, deserving of more time in anyone's book I suspect. It's the chaps above them that are causing the stink.
Just an OS and a couple more homies to bolster the squad required, for me.

I wondered if its one of those cant go anywhere unless we agree situations. Felt Salisbury in particular was passionate about the plans for Sussex to have a core group of players who are Sussex through and through. Prior to the night I took them as a sort of stand in couple of coaches who were overseeing the team for a season or two, but now view them as two coaches who are really committed to the long term future. Was a good night. Helped convince me not to cancel my membership direct debit

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure what to make of this event. Sincere waffle? Let's hope Brown is playing for Sussex in 2022. I'm not as convinced as Salisbury.
