Six Academy players and four former Academy players in a team where the average age was just 19. McManus, Taylor and Crane look like potential stars for Hampshire as do Weatherley and Alsop although the latter two struggled as a lot of batsman did on yet another unfriendly batting wicket at Eastbourne. As for Sussex good performances from Cammish and Hooper. Shoare, Jackson, Hudson-Prentice and Moses are more capable with the bat than they showed here. www.espncricinfo.com/england/engine/match/715959.htmlJonboy - I won't put money on seeing Glover again in a Sussex maybe a Worthing one unfortunateley injuries have taken their toll on young Glover. I see another former Sussex Academy seamer Abidine Sakande is playing for Oxford. www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/11245335.CRICKET__England_Under_19_seamer_Sakande_bolsters_Oxford/

Essex made 330-5 in a three day friendly at Horsham today - ouch! Two each for Hatchett and Wadlan, whoever he is? If Beer had have been playing it would be different.
Hiyaaaaw!
Don't know if Hobbo was playing? Big runs needed tomorrow for the toddlers.

Hobden and Liddle went wicketless. Two wickets for Hatchett, Wadlan and a run out by Shoare. Batting will depend on Finch, Shoare, Hudson-Prentice, Salt, Cammish and Zaidi.

277-6 declared with fifties for Finch and Zaidi is a decent effort.

Good performance from the Sussex lads as they chase down 266 to win by 2 wickets. Wadlan top scored with 64, while there was another fifty for Zaidi

I find it interesting that RHB gets the nod over Machan in the CC match at Durham. Is the selection based on class, or on current form?

I suppose on form In the last championship game Rory scored over one hundred runs

I suppose on form In the last championship game Rory scored over one hundred runs Possibly, but the first 45 of them at least, in the innings I watched, were the streakiest imaginable. Unfortunately for him, Machan is having difficulty in finding the scores to match his talent this year, and there's little to choose between them, except for the thought that Machan is likely to improve.

Thought Machan was injured - obviously not. So we actually chose to play an extra bowler, at Durham of all places. What the hell are we thinking? We're getting tonked left right and centre right now. Big runs needed in this one for Machan and Finch.

Will drop in on the seconds game at Preston Nomads this afternoon to see how Machan and Finch go against a decent Kent attack including Griffiths, Haggett and Hartley and will report back...

I hope you made it in time to see them BM, both out within first five overs.
The good news is that Hobden took five wickets
