The Sussex approach to overseas wicket keepers this season has been mind baffling. They should be developing one of the home grown talents. Young keepers need to play in all formats, make mistakes and get better. Waste of Sarah Taylor's time unless Sussex change their approach on this. I agree 100%. With Carter scoring 185 and Tear now on the staff I don't expect Philippe, Rizwan or Seifert to return next season.

Damn straight Sponge. It was obvious last year that we had a young keeper/bat to hang our hat on. Wasted an OS spot, as good as Riz is. Very odd behaviour for a club that uses promoting youth as an excuse to let good players leave.
Crocodile Crocombe's just gone bang bang bang, so don't worry about the Kent 2020 thing.

Why can't we act now CP? We have a couple of weeks until the next Champ game don't we? They act fast enough to draft in T20 players. We need a strike bowler from Australia or somewhere like, yesterday.

Young keepers need to play in all formats, make mistakes and get better. Waste of Sarah Taylor's time unless Sussex change their approach on this. Sarah was out working with Atkins in the lunch interval on Sunday with Finn in the background offering appropriate advice. Surely not the best use of her talents and experience. Still a very fine wicket keeper judging by the way she was taking Atkins rapid deliveries one handed with ease. I reckon she would have snapped up the Byrom chance this morning. The Sussex approach to the overseas wicket keeper option I would suggest is down to two factors. The abysmal handling of the Brown situation and the myopic obsession with the T20 competition. The first not only could have been avoided by better management, not to mention being covered by the presence of Carter, Orr and Alsop. As for the second, after last Friday I think we can say the ship on that one has firmly sailed. Great fight back by Sussex in the last half hour or so. Crazy game, two batters with big hundreds, the rest can't buy a run.

Really needed to finish them off sooner, up against it now. Hopefully the form lads can get us to close.
Really really standing out now, our strong homegrown batters, our weak attack and these flat tracks everywhere we play. Really really need to address this. Really really.

Very disappointing end to the day, but it looked as though it was coming.
Need significant contributions from Seifert, Ibrahim and Rawlins on top of another big innings from Oli if we are to save this match tomorrow.

I agree 100%. With Carter scoring 185 and Tear now on the staff I don't expect Philippe, Rizwan or Seifert to return next season. Not for T20? With Carter, Orr and even Alsop all able to keep wicket Ash and all in and around the T20 side then in my view the management need to be a lot smarter on how they use the two overseas places. The priority is a top overseas bowler for all formats. The second spot will depend on who within the current group remains for next season, how quick other youngsters develop from within the group and whether there are any decent domestic signings to be made. Emphasis on decent as opposed to those in the twilight of their careers, looking for a final pay day with question marks over their ability to remain fit. This strategy appearing to be the norm for Sussex for far too long now. Claydon, Meaker and based on the evidence so far Finn. My suspicion is Wright will be go at the end of the season and if so we might have to find a top class batter. Rizwan has been good, but would we opt for him if we just wanted a batter? I suspect not. Someone in the mold of Phillips at Gloucester or Masood at Derby would be ideal and unlike this season's signings would have the big advantage of being available for the whole season/tournament!! Probably be cheaper aswell.

Shame about Clarko, Clarky, Clark. He's solid that boy. Looks like it's down to Juice again. He's extremely solid too. 20 years old, what a prospect. Need something from Seafret, gotta give Archie something to bowl at.
