Credit to the Team, they did well to keep that to 310. Only 74 runs off the last ten overs, which has been where we tend to go for a few. Credit to Currie, Lenham and a good last over from Crocombe.
Only once both sides have batted will we know how competive that total is, but I suspect a lot will depend on our ability to cope with scoreboard pressure and how we play the spin of Pandya.
Need a big score from one of our batters with support from a couple of others. Hopefully, they remember it is 50 overs and you can catch up at the end if you keep wickets in hand.

Warwickshire dropped two catches. Make them pay Sussex. 135 for 2 off 26. Orr 58 and Pujara 11. Will Ward never learn?

That is three decent starts for Ward and each time he has been unable to go on and get a score. I just don't understand the management at times this season. Surely, Clark opening with Orr, Alsop at three and Carter at five with the gloves makes us stronger. It isn't just about Ward not getting a score, but we are missing out on getting Alsop in earlier where he has a greater opportunity to hurt the opposition.

Alsop needs to bat at 3. Why oh why can't the management see this? Carter and Alsop can share the gloves. A good model for all formats going forward. I would also bring in Coles for Lenham. Coles needs some opportunity.

Fine, fine margins.
Whilst it is disappointing to lose, I am actually quite buoyed by today's performance. We showed some real character and for the first time it actually feels that the team is moving forward and developing.
It was always going to be challenging against a strong Warwickshire side, even missing a few of their first choice players. A County with sufficient resources to go out and recruit an overseas specifically for this tournament.
A few tweaks to the line up (see previous post) and better decisions around the use of our bowlers and we should be able to hold our own in the remaining fixtures.
In hindsight three overs from Ward was a mistake, but equally they dropped two catches and fluffed a run out. You could say one cancelled out the other.
The real positive for me is for the first time in ages we showed some maturity and exercised some 'game management' as opposed to complete naivety. This time last season I reckon we would have cracked under the pressure and been rolled over for 180.
Furthermore, contrast today's run chase to the horrendous T20 debacle earlier this season when we threw away the match from a winning position against Gloucestershire.
Initially I didn't give us a hope in this competition, but the team have already exceeded my expectations in terms of wins, but most important performance.
Yes, we have not been that badly hit for Hundred call ups compared to some of our opponents and in my humble opinion our bowling attack still needs strengthening, but there is a degree of optimism.
Currie and Karvelas have certainly helped with the bowling and with Durham and Somerset to come, who are pretty much already out, we may finish higher than I (and I suspect one or two others) thought possible prior to the start of this tournament.

Devon, you didn't miss anything on Ibrahim - his over went for 11 11's nowt these days is it. You never give anyone one over, even if they go for 30. You never give Ward any overs, he cannot bowl properly. Not really sure what they're looking at there. Carter the obvious one for Ward but Ward has batted alright. A few starts, generally fast, big one might be round the corner. I too think Coles should get the rest of the comp for Lenham. Dip in dip out, no problem. Lenham is a great prospect. Should have won that. But good game & effort by the looks of it. March on to the next in confidence.

Great game, always exciting when it comes down to the last over. Pujara excellent again and Orr finding form the 2 highlights for me.
Bowling Ward cost us the game but we had to find overs from somewhere. If we’d got an O/S bowler in for the comp we’d be real contenders.
Im still optimistic, I think the heat has gone to my head.

We didn't Joe, we got six bowlers. Bowl them, they're bowlers, unlike Ward.

How brave will Salisbury and co be for our home game v Surrey tomorrow? An important game to win. Same team or changes? There is an argument for putting Ward down the order; or should he be dropped? Alsop needs to move to 3, or even open with Orr. He can still keep. Should Lenham continue. We all agree he will become a very good player; but others need an opportunity. Can we fit Carter in? Needs opportunity in white ball; done nothing wrong. Does Hudson Prentice play as a bat only? Apart from 1 over, Ibrahim did in the last game. Does Hunt replace Crocombe? Any news on Finn's dodgy knee?
Where's your money? Tomorrow's team selection will speak volumes.

I think you will find Karvelas is the second overseas player. We are no lonnger part of the EU and Kolpak no longer applies so you cannot qualify as a domestic player with a Greek or South African passport.

Orr Alsop Clark Pujara* Ward Carter+ Rawlins Ibrahim Karvelas Coles Currie Hunt. Nice try but you cannot play twelve. I think Carter should keep wicket and Alsop should open. I would leave out Coles from your above twelve.
