B hell. It gets worse. Poor Crocombe looks to have done some serious damage to his shoulder fielding a ball. Because it's not Covid or concussion no replacement allowed. What a stupid rule. ECB need to get their heads out of their backsides and sort this stupidity out. To be fair, it’s nothing new. Replacements have been allowed for tangible and specified circumstances. Allowing replacements for injuries in general would be so open to abuse.

A reminder that we still need an overseas batsman for next season. Only if you wanna draw every game. Don't let two innings in September trump what you've seen all season from our attack. We play most games at Pancake Hove & from next year many should actually be in the summer too. The easy defensive option is to go with one bat one bowl. Everything I've seen says take the risk & win some games. And we would. I don't know what Kirtley, presuming it's him, has in his head. The man's played at Durham & numerous other places hundreds of times & was a canny bowler. Who rocks up at Durham in September & plays the extra bowler? You know we'll need the extra batter & maybe only 4 bowlers but we can have 5 anyway cos of our all-rounder options. We have Ibrahim at 5, a debutant at 6 & Coles at 7 - aren't they all 17? Unless Carter & H-P are injured this is just plain stupid. They both scored gritty runs in the last game & they should be two of the 1st names down right now, regardless of whether Carter keeps, or H-P bowls for that matter. This batting line-up that we've seen fail has been inexplicably sabotaged in my view. There has to be something up with both Carter & H-P otherwise I'm lost with these morons. They have to go.

Feel for Crocombe, it’s the lads 21st birthday today and looks as if he won’t be able to lift a pint!

Unless I am mistaken, I believe everyone on this forum agrees with that selection. So have we all lost our senses or is it the numpties running this team? Answers on a postcard. Hudson-Prentice one of the first names on the team sheet whilst at Derbyshire, a team who have outperformed us in both the Championship and T20 this season and he can't get in our side ahead of Ibrahim, Coles, Crocombe and Hunt. He's probably already on the phone to his agent. Carter 629 runs at an average of 41.93. Coles 150 runs at 25, Ibrahim 87 runs at 12.42. Another one we are doing our best to push out the door. Currie 12 wickets at 23.91 in the three games he has played, Crocombe only one more at 51.06 in 9 games and Hunt 15 wickets at 39.53 in 7 games. Probably the best wicket and conditions Currie would have got to bowl on this season and we leave him out. I don't blame the players, although some of the shot selection wasn't too smart, I blame whoever sent this team out and effectively threw them under the bus.

It’s not about the attack, it’s about having too much faith in our batting. Yes it’s improved, but we still don’t have the strength or quality nor the depth to go without an overseas batsman, unless we signed a domestic batsman. Look at this match - 1-4 ok (though failed in first innings again), then what, and as I mentioned in a subsequent post, we look so threadbare in that I’m struggling to think who else could’ve played in the top 5 apart from Rawlins.

I think it’s a bit of an over-exaggeration to say we’re trying to push Carter out of the door just because we haven’t picked him in this match. Granted he should be playing and I’m not one to defend the powers that be, but if being left out for one match could lead to a player wanting to leave, we may as well pack up.

Ashington, you are right. Missing one game is no sign of pushing a player out. However, this lad has had to put up with a parade of highly paid keepers Rizwan, Phillipe, and the NZ keeper; also playing in red ball games. Alsop playing as keeper for most of the 50 over. The keeping coach disappears for the 100. And while this happens he doesn't get picked, even though his batting is decent in it's own right in only his second season as a 20 year old. As I said, feel for the lad. He has something about him which I would have thought Sussex would want to keep. But what do I know. Fact is, and most agree on here Salisbury and Kirtley are out of their depth and there have been too many dire decisions to dispute this.

A reminder that we still need an overseas batsman for next season. Absolutely spot on. We simply must get Pujara back as well as a gun overseas bowler This batting order isn’t good enough to cope without an OS

The 2 who should have could have played Ash, then you got Rawlins, Myra & a couple of yoot to promote. No idea what your issue with depth is.
It is about the attack if you wanna win games. This side cannot bowl anyone out once let alone twice. The batters failed, then succeeded, failed, might succeed again in the 2nd. When have the bowlers ever succeeded?
I get Pujara, but it's the safe option. We won't enough games. The batting is good, the people picking it is not.
Draw your way to the bottom 3 again next season at Pancake Hove. I'll run it by ya again in 2023.
