It's changed, or there was a typo. H-P in for Coles.

It's criminal that whoever is picking this side is picking Ibrahim as a bat ahead of Carter. Once again we have two 17 year olds & an 18 year old at 5,6,7. I dunno what these people are trying to prove but they need to be stopped. Couldn't agree more Liquid. Carter with 629 runs at 41.93 with a career best 185 and five half centuries overlooked for Ibrahim with 87 runs this season from 9 innings, a top score of 36 averaging 10.87. An average lower than Crocombe, Atkins, Robinson, Karvelas, Brooks, Lenham and Rawlins. How can that make any sense? Nothing against the lad, great prospect, but you play your best team and on recent performances he isn't part of that team. Almost as if they are playing him for his bowling, which putting aside the fact Haines bowls himself ahead of the lad, aswell as appearing reluctant to throw the ball to him doesn't say a lot for the confidence the management have in Currie, Faheem, Hunt and Hudson-Prentice. The biggest surprise for me is they also dropped Coles. Don't get me wrong correct decision, but he very much seemed to be flavour of the month. Anyone know who is picking this team? Anyone know who is currently running the show? Five year plan!! We don't seem to have a five day plan at present.

Watching the live stream, and Ashraf bowling his usual rubbish. I just don't get it. A bowler should have been left out to allow Carter to play. Brainless. Once again Carter will be carrying on drinks. I think he has been selected in every squad in every format but gets left out. Don't stats count for anything?

Haines has to replace Ashraf after just 3 overs. You couldn't make it up!! Shouldn't Hunt or Hudson Prentice or Ibrahim be bowling before Haines. Sussex management morons.

Deja vous.
Failing to take advantage of the new ball.
Opposition going at almost a run a ball.
Plenty of four balls.
Down to two slips and setting a defensive field for our latest overseas after just his third over.
Hudson-Prentice appearing to take charge as our captain looks lost.
Clark drops an absolute dolly off of Currie.
Faheem correctly removed from the attack and replaced by our recognised all rounder Hudson-Prentice - NO, our other opening bowler Hunt - NO, our part time dibbly dobbler captain Haines who is promptly despatched to the boundary.
We are such a mess.

At least Currie maintains his good form. One down.

At least Currie maintains his good form. One down. A small beacon of hope. Incredible when you remember, he wasn't considered good enough to make the team for the match at Durham. Four overthrows now!!

I am only an armchair expert and what do I know, but it seems like we had created a lovely squad spirit in the Royal London (and maybe that was because we were humping 2nd teams), but that spirit has been successfully dismantled by "Whoever is making the decisions". I don't think it was a coincidence Haines was not in the squad when that spirit was developed. Let the lad concentrate on his batting, he is no Captain. Looking back at the County Championship games, Rawlins was also left out of the Notts game at the end of July after a poor game against Middlesex the previous week, so maybe a decision on his red ball future already made at that point. I am fine with the decision to replace him with Carson in the red ball game, but let us at least see that in the communications.

A small beacon of hope. Incredible when you remember, he wasn't considered good enough to make the team for the match at Durham. Four overthrows now!! Devon, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I really try to be fair, balanced and see all sides when I post my views and thoughts Sponge. I really thought we had turned a corner following a very positive and successful Royal London Cup campaign, but I suspect I was swept up into the illusion that it was down to improved performances and wrongly discounted how much was actually a consequence of the weakened opposition. Since our semi-final defeat, we have been pathetic and embarrassing, both on and off the field. Poor selection, poor tactics, lack of leadership, a supposedly professional sports team that is operating nowhere near the standard a club with this great history and tradition requires. The management, if indeed we even know who is actually running things, has been baffling. The team selection at Durham was disgraceful. The continued absence of Carter inexplicable. The recruitment of an overseas on a three game contract who (admittedly based on a small sample size) offers nothing more than we already have in Hudson-Prentice, Garton and Ibrahim. The ostracisation of Rawlins. Finally, Haines who looks completely out of his depth, compounds the off field errors of the invisible management staff with on field ones and whose batting is nowhere near the standards he set himself just a year ago. The situation with Salisbury who has been missing if I am correct since before the Royal London Cup is yet another example of a rudderless ship. If he has been relieved of his duties, say so and pay him off. If it is for personal reasons, likewise make an appropriate announcement. At least let us now who (if indeed anybody) is running the show. I passionately support Sussex and am always sad when the season ends. However, this season bar the deception provided by one month playing on a levelled out playing field due to weakened opposition has been beyond nothing short of pathetic. The end of season far from being disappointing, offers relief of having to no longer endure painful performances, punctuated only by individual feats from the likes of Pujara, Orr, Alsop and occasionally one or two others that soften the pain. The real irony and this just shows how completely out of touch those running the Club actually are is at the same time as announcing the squad for this game they market next season's membership packages. Good luck selling those based on the feable offerings currently been served up on the field to the paying public. The next few weeks will be vital in laying a platform and foundation for next season. Hopefully, someone somewhere at Sussex has a blue print to start putting this great club back onto a proper footing. So in answer to your original question, please pass the tissues.

I notice Broad, Potts and both Overtons are playing, why can’t Ollie Robinson?

I have a mixture of feelings about Sussex at the moment. Alas one of them is anger. There will always be different opinions on who should or shouldn't play. That is part of the makeup of the game that we all love. But, the non communication of the Sussex management concerning our players and coaches is downright insulting. I also detect that the camp has lost its happiness. As Liquid says heads must roll, but I bet they won't. If Sussex aren't careful the good young players will all leave; and the squad will be made up of old has beens and highly paid mercenaries.
