I think Carter, Ward and Coles deserve the chance this season to prove theyre adequate competition for places. Yes fair enough, I had Coles down as an all-rounder, but he can be considered a batsman, Ward has been used as a T20 specialist almost, but assuming he's on a full contract then he comes into contention. Carter is an interesting one - if he's competing for the number 5 spot (and he's certainly good enough), does that mean Tear keeping? (Ah, I think I know the answer to this - you have Alsop keeping in your 11.) Most recent team I had Tear keeping purely due to the fact that it seems he's the preferred keeper within the squad. I dont think Carter is actually being considered as the starting Keeper this season but he has certainly scored enough runs to be considered a strong enough batting option. With Keith's role being less demanding hopefully he'll be available for Poynings more this season! It's handy when he does because his 8 overs of off spin usually only take a minute a time so we spend less time in the field!

Good knowledge!! I wonder if Farbrace will be more successful in preventing these leaks but respect anyway always handy to have some inside knowledge on here.

So, that's it now for our T20 overseas players. Khan and Pujara. That's enough. Please Sussex don't sign any more. With these two and our 3 white ball only players, Bopara, Mills and Ward there are 6 other T20 places up for grab.

Shadab Khan and Sean Abbott were both mentioned recently (with Steve Smith) as perhaps coming to Hove. One down two to go!

Not exciting……….Sean Abbott is the type of overseas we have needed for the last 5/6 seasons.
Finally with Greenfield out of the 1st Xi picture we have a decent coach with the right contacts!!

Article in the Telegraph saying Abbott has been signed by Surrey.
Nice dream while it lasted.

Article in the Telegraph saying Abbott has been signed by Surrey. Nice dream while it lasted. That's a shame. Let's look at CC red ball seam attack. Robinson and Archer. I don't expect to see much of either; but hope I am wrong. Finn, might get one or two games from him. FHP. Hope he is fighting fit. A clever bowler. Garton. Has to prove 4 day fitness. Hope he does. Ibrahim. Don't expect too much too soon. Crocombe and Hunt. Lots of potential but seemed to go backwards under Kirtley. Atkins. Hope he can bowl quick. Another that seemed to go backwards under Kirtley. Kervalas. Deserves a game. Haines. Very useful. Hope Pujara uses him wisely. Clarke. Shouldn't need to bowl. Where is Currie? No news on Sussex website?? Have I missed anyone? Farbrace needs to find a good fit bowler to support these guys.

A 30 year old seamer who has never played a test match isnt an exciting overseas signing no. He's a good bowler and i said he'd be a good signing just not an exciting one. I agree re Greenfield - Overseas players like Rashid Khan, Pujara, Rizwan, Travis Head (albeit didnt do a lot for us but scoring shed loads of test runs), Ross Taylor, David Wiese and others. He clearly had no contacts around any of the major test playing nations.

He just meant Greenfield is pants at everything & shouldn't have a job at Sussex, Trash Gordon.
Abbott would be fantastic & is exactly what we've needed for some time, as stated.
Spongo, is Pujara skipper? I missed that.

Well, Haines. I missed his sacking, hope he's cool with it. Brown weren't. Whoever the skipper is he just needs to tell his side to play like England, cos that's the future for everyone & the sooner we go there the better.
