Im not on any wind up. I firmly believe in what Farbrace is trying to achieve, to follow on from the good work and solid platforms Grubby left him with. A few posts back from a Kent fan, hes delighted that a second rate part time wicket keeper batter is at that club, thats the ambition Kent has. We want more and rightfuly demand more. Keep the faith John and ill arrange for you to be able to sip champagne out of the Div 2 trophy at the end of season party! Lab1 do you know something we don't? How is our bowling going to take 20 wickets? We haven't had a replacement for Wright's refusal yet. Robinson will play the odd game; when it suits England. Our promosing young bowlers still going backwards under Kirtley.

Yes, obviously Kent, having spent the last 5 seasons in Division 1 and with 20 trophies in their history (compared with our 12) are much less ambitious than us 🙄

It's the Real ab 1. 20 wickets from Seales, Hunt, Karvelas, FHP And Carson. Too easy in this division. Runs galore from our Supreme 7. Imagine your number 7 scoring nearly 900 runs last year phenomenonalstuff

A lot of pressure on Seales (who’s injured at the moment with a recurring shoulder problem) to take at least 10 of them with that back-up. Yes our No7 scored nearly 900 runs, unfortunately none of the other 1-6 did!

I've said it before people want us to lose so they can moan. Chris Skinner is the chief of that, thank f**k he's on the other board. Ollie is currently available for 3-4 off the first 7 depending on his fitness.

I’m positive when there’s something to be positive about but I don’t wear rose tinted glasses as you and our current chairman appear to do.

In your opinion I wear rose tinted glasses myself I see a team that came 3rd last year only because of points deductions and we are arguably stronger than last year given we know our 4 os players as a rule, ok Orr going was bad but we've Roger's second half of the season and a couple more due in. Try it Joe take the positive outlook on it.

Our dear Chair, in the hope of inspiring Sussex supporters to be full of Christmas cheer, has published an open letter banging the Club drum on all things positive for 2024. While more of a “cringeworthy propaganda sheet”, two paragraphs are of interest. In January, we are expecting to receive a tender document from the ECB which will enable Sussex to apply to be one of the eight fully professional county teams that will be set up in 2025, the ten counties that are not part of the new professional Tier One will become part of Tier Two.
Members can be assured that Sussex Cricket will be working very hard to demonstrate that given our ground at Hove, the history of excellence in women’s cricket, the availability of outstanding resources at Hove, Blackstone, BACA and an exciting development at the University of Brighton, we are very well placed to be one of the eight. Watch this space for news as that work develops. I find Filby’s explanation very confusing. Is he referring to the ECB’s new Hundred proposal, where the tournament may expand from eight to ten franchise teams? Yet, it is highly likely these two new sides will come from the south-west, in Bristol and Taunton, and the north-east, at Durham. www.sportspromedia.com/news/the-hundred-cricket-expansion-teams-2025-investment-ecb/?zephr_sso_ott=CsdpiaOr, is it the other Hundred proposal where it looks increasingly likely to morph into a two-division competition involving 19 teams from 2025 on, with the majority of counties in favour of being represented by their own team. archive.is/fH0ZPI do not understand why Filby would even refer to these proposals - yet - when they remain just a whimsy. Or is he referring to something completely different? Can someone shed some light on what our Chair is talking about? Does he even know himself what it's actually about? sussexcricket.co.uk/news/open-letter-jon-filby

Joe, thanks for that explanation.
Still, on rereading Filby's open letter, his comments remain confusing. All he had to write was "...we are expecting to receive a tender document from the ECB which will enable Sussex (women's side) to apply to be one of the eight fully professional county teams..."

Catching up a bit with all things cricket and just seen the Tom Curran incident. A 4 game ban for that is pretty insane. Yes he shouldnt have done it and was in breach of the laws but its a ery dangerous precedent to be set. The umpires part in this altercation needs mentioning too. Yes his word is gospel but he doesnt have the right to attempt to physically block anyone.
A stern telling off and a warning would and should have been enough, the noises i hear about banning him for the tournament and beyond is laughable really.

The umpire has every right to block someone from running on the pitch before a game. He had just watched Curran do it at the other end and had warned him so he was stopping him from doing it again. To add insult to injury he called the umpire a f***head. Curran is an arrogant little sh*t and deserved a harsher ban in my opinion.
