With it now looking 99.9% likely that we will have no more new incoming players, we are going to be relying on huge improvement from some of our squad to prvide much needed depth. The winter Bertie Foreman and Dan Ibrahim have had may push them in to First Team contention, Foreman especially as Carsons form with the ball hasnt been very steady.I suspect he may end up being a batter that bowls a bit. It's almost criminal allowing Orr to go and not replacing him, we should have made him see out his contract! The good news is i heard a rumour we may have Ollie for 4 or 5 of the first 7 games and he is likely to be available for the first game providing no injury. 1. Tom Haines 2. Tom Clark 3. Tom Alsop 4. Cheteshwar Pujara 5. James Coles 6. John Simpson (WK)(C) 7. Fynn Hudson-Prentice 8. Jack Carson 9. Ollie Robinson 10. Ari Karvelas 11. Jayden Seales Leaving Oli Carter, Henry Crocombe, Bertie Foreman, Sean Hunt, Dan Irahim, Danny Lamb, Archie Lenham, Zach Lion-Cachet, Henry Rogers and Charlie Tear. Theres numbers but is there the quality to really drive them on! I would say there is next to no chance that Seales and Oli Rob both start the same game for us It really has been an utter disaster of a winter, depressing but not surprising

Oli Carter was one of your best batsman last season!! Pujara should open with Haines and Carter in the middle order. I am amazed you havent signed another bowler after Wright saw how your lot behaved against Leics and decided to knock it on the head. Instead of signing a replacement for Wright we decided to release a bowler (Atkins) while consigning Currie to T20 duties only. Fortunately we can rely on getting through the season with the bare minimum of bowlers because as we know, injuries very seldom happen 🙄

Seales is our O/S player if its not him it'll be someone else, Robbo should be available. Utter Disaster? It's negaive text, I'd say its been an average winter.

Seales is back playing after his shoulder injury so fingers crossed that he stays fit for an extended period. I think we’re probably all sceptical about the amount of playing time we’ll get from Robinson but maybe we’ll pleasantly surprised.

Yes SP! It's time to focus on positives and not whats happened.
Remember Matt Prior and Alan Wells telling us more would depart after Orr left, none of that happened and both have gone very quiet since. They only comment on negative news because it makes them interesting I guess.
All the noise i hear is that pre season training has gone very well and theres a buzz of excitement around the place.
I get theres been a lot of disappointment in the last few years but lets believe we can get back to Div 1 and back our new CEO to deliver!

Dont suppose its a huge secret anyway. 122k operating loss - blamed largely on not renting out offices. So as John has alluded too in the past, weve lost about 400k's worth of talent off the wage bill with 2 new recruits lets be generous and say £250k. With the current squad not being increased without the offices being rented are we to see an immediate turnaround of a 120k profit year? Then with the rental are we talking upawrds of half a million?

Makes a mockery of Filby’s glowing endorsement of Andrew when he left. I think it was something like ‘he has left the club in a good financial position’
All those players who were jettisoned for no reason. Would have been better to keep the players and taken out a loan as all the other counties did.
Filby out.

Its not great news but its time for complete transparency now, i could be wrong but i think more fans would be more understanding if they didnt feel like they were being lied to over and over again.

Exactly. We are all batting for the same side here, just be honest with the people who indirectly run the club, the supporters and members. Where would the management be without us? Show us some respect.

I was sent a screenshot of a summary of it from the other board! (blacklisted and all that).
In Summary!
operating loss of £122k, for which they are blaming lower matchday spend at the ground, and the increased costs of hosting overseas players. In 2022 there was a profit of £444k. three floors of commercial office space not let which had an impact on our financial performance in 22/23 and is regrettably expected to continue in 23/24” There are a few other nuggets. Treasurer Fiona Richards says they are trying to manage the losses through non replacement of departing staff She also says uncertainties remain and the outlook for 2024 remains difficult.unprecedented increase in pressure from the summer concert season which doesn’t state clearly whether Hove will host a concert or not this year.

Can we include players in the non replacement of departing staff?
