Can we include players in the non replacement of departing staff? I'm making an assumption that is what is meant! A sh!t show financially, if we are basing our financial security on renting out these offices we are screwed and need a rethink.

I don't understand how in 2 years we have gone from a 400k profit to a 100k loss. Am I missing something? That means this year we are looking at a potential 500K loss. We won't survive financially; will we?

I was sent a screenshot of a summary of it from the other board! (blacklisted and all that). In Summary! operating loss of £122k, for which they are blaming lower matchday spend at the ground, and the increased costs of hosting overseas players. I wonder how much of this is attributable to the signing of Steve Smith. Otherwise, we had so many overseas players on short term contracts and I’m guessing that’s an expensive way to go about it.

At least Smith got some runs and bought a packed crowd.

We won't survive financially; will we?Don't worry, the ECB will save us. It becomes increasingly more difficult to find the positives in Sussex CCC going forward. Those at the top of the hierarchy have little or no business experience, whatsoever. Our new CEO may well become an interim. The previous CEO destroyed all the best aspects of the Club, where his one saving grace, the new apartment block, the offices built within it are now a white elephant. Our best youngster has left for a rival county and others may well have followed, but for the fact nobody in Division 1 wanted them. Lucky us! We have a Coach who for most of his career was a No.2, but is now trying to prove himself as a No.1 in his latter days. And to cap it all there is no money available, as no-one at the Club in an influential position has the ambition, understanding or experience of how to create new revenue streams. Sussex is stuck in a great big putrid cesspit with little or no opportunity of clambering out, unless a wealthy benefactor or a business consortium come along and take over the Club. Please can I hear the positives. Over to you lab1.

Firstly Orr wasnt our best youngster, Coles is and thats representative in Lions call ups. No other players has been offered to any other county so its simply untrue that nobody wanted them.
Paul Farbrace is an outstanding coach and we are extremely lucky to have him.
We only lost 1 game last year and we have largely the same squad as last year but with Overseas covered with high quality imports.
John Simpson has been added and give us something we havent had probably since Andy Hodd, an elite Wicketkeeper.
I'm trying to block out all the financial stuff now and whats going on behind the scenes and just focussing on what they can achieve on the pitch.

Without a solid financial footing we are DOOOOOOOOOOmed! A specially crafted begging bowl required for the ECB, methinks. All the talk about money reminds me of this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-P2qL3qkzk

With it now looking 99.9% likely that we will have no more new incoming players, we are going to be relying on huge improvement from some of our squad to prvide much needed depth. The winter Bertie Foreman and Dan Ibrahim have had may push them in to First Team contention, Foreman especially as Carsons form with the ball hasnt been very steady.I suspect he may end up being a batter that bowls a bit. It's almost criminal allowing Orr to go and not replacing him, we should have made him see out his contract! The good news is i heard a rumour we may have Ollie for 4 or 5 of the first 7 games and he is likely to be available for the first game providing no injury. 1. Tom Haines 2. Tom Clark 3. Tom Alsop 4. Cheteshwar Pujara 5. James Coles 6. John Simpson (WK)(C) 7. Fynn Hudson-Prentice 8. Jack Carson 9. Ollie Robinson 10. Ari Karvelas 11. Jayden Seales Leaving Oli Carter, Henry Crocombe, Bertie Foreman, Sean Hunt, Dan Irahim, Danny Lamb, Archie Lenham, Zach Lion-Cachet, Henry Rogers and Charlie Tear. Theres numbers but is there the quality to really drive them on! Just to clarify, Ollies availability was informed to me by someone very close to him over a cold lager :-). So may be not in my dreams!!!!! The ECB though can and probably will change their mind. Theres a few conversations i'm looking to forward to having with certain people next year, see if their as blunt to my face :-)

Ollie Robinson should be allowed to play all of your first 7 CC games. He doesnt get in the England T20 squad and the tests dont start until July!!! The ECB are awful at this we have been getting it for years with our players. They dont need to rest 2 months ahead of test matches.

We hear this every season. I know you have your contacts but we hear every season how much he will play for us and he often has a mysterious injury or isn’t allowed to. If we get more than 2 games out of him I’ll be amazed

Im just passing on the info as i read a lot of mis truths on it and unfair jibes aimed at him. Fact rather than conjecture if you will but people who choose the first form of response is to moan and be negative conjecture fits there argument so they ignore fact.

But the facts are he’s barely played for us the last few years partly because of the ecb and partly because of very minor injuries (tooth ache and a finger injury!) The conjecture is actually you reporting that he’s going to be available for lots of games, the facts are that he hasn’t played much cricket for us recently Anyway I very much hope you are right on this one as our season rests on his availability

Conjecture is guess work which is what the majority of people do because it fits the narrative that Ollie isnt interested in playing for Sussex when i know factually he loves it and just loves bowling.
