Its certainly an unsettling piece of news youve provided Joe. If it does happen as it stands our best side next year will be Haines Clark Alsop Carter Coles Ibrahim FHP Carson Crocombe Karvelas Hunt Whilst i dont think that is a completely horrendous side, its very clear that we will need 4 or 5 top class players coming in to really compete. The Squeaky XI would hammer this side and in all formats! The Squeaky XI Wells Orr Evans Salt Brown Burgess Rawlins Garton Jordan Briggs Topley But we'd be bankrupt, the inconvenient truth. Rawlins made laugh though so well done. Not as good as Joe's Sakande being a big loss though.

Wow! When you put all the players who’ve left during his tenure together like that it really brings it home. There’s probably another 11 who’d make up decent side too like Nash, Wright, Finch, Beer, Whittingham, Sakande, Cachopa, Shazad, Wiese, van Zyl etc. Yeah I wasn’t sure whether Nash left under Squeaky and the Wright retirement was all slightly odd so gave him a pass on that one as well!

I wasn’t saying he was a big loss just pointing out how many players have left since Andrew took the job. I’ve no doubt a few of those players would have gone anyway through natural selection.

In the volume that we have, yes, we are the leading county in terms of experienced players lost, as has been well documented in the print media. As we all know, at the heart of the issue was a course of action knowingly embarked on by the recently departed CEO.

Archer, Robinson and Jordan was arguably the strongest bowling attack in the CC at one point. Losing these three made a bigger difference than anything else to our fortunes. Only one of these has actually left and he has hardly bowled with a red ball in three years. That trio is hard to replace.

See you can choose that or you can go a little deeper when i believe the real problems started that weve never recovered from. The last couple of years of Robbos tenure, yes his successes give him a lot of leniancy but! Signing Panesar in 2009 was the beginning of the downfall and the issues he bought with him culminating in him pissing on a bouncer and Ed Joyce having him by the throat in the changing room. We lost Ollie Rayner as well because of this signing. Then we went on to bring in a string of loan and desperation signings Burgoyne, Dockerill and Linley to name but a few. I guess what I'm trying to say is while yes Rob Andrew hasnt been the greatest success story, the rot set in well before he arrived!

Big chunk of CC games theyll be available for.
This is fantastic news. All of a sudden things are looking a bit brighter :-)
Ive said before you need to get the best overseas players available to you whether its 2 batters or bowlers or a combo. Can you imagine them 2 with Robbo for a couple of games, frightening!

Gillespie, Andrew, player ambition, are some of the factors. IMO the single biggest factor is the cricket structure, in particular the widening gap between Test ground counties and not. It is now glaring. Test match counties in Div One, the rest in Div Two (more or less). If Orr goes to Hants, it is a new low. It would spell out exactly where the power is, and where we stand. Feeder club. As it stands Orr is still a Sussex player, contracted for another season. I hope the club fights to keep him, whatever his ambitions.

If Orr does stay you'd now have.
Haines Orr Alsop
Coles Simpson FHP Carson McAndrew Seales Karvelas
Deliberately left 4 out as i dont see a glarignly obvious player in our squad to do that but you could play Carter as a specialist batter but not sure hes capable of being 4 which is usually where your best player sits.
2 more batters needed, if Orr goes 3.
Currently on the bench for the CC would be -
Clark Carter Ibrahim Hunt Crocombe
Very clear we need a bit more depth still.
Edited - Forgot about Karvelas!
