Completely agree. Caps were given out sparingly and were coveted by those who received them. These days you just have to turn up. Absolute farce.

We are probably going to make ourselves unpopular Sponge, but I am 100% with you. Still has some way to go before being the finished article and hasn't done enough yet in terms of performance. First class record at time of typing 116 wickets at 36.55. Nobody is likely to make themselves unpopular by suggesting that county caps are handed out too soon these days. As for Carson’s average, it needs to improve of course but it’s worth bearing in mind that he was thrust into the team at a young age and has frequently had to bowl long afternoons on a flat Hove wicket at well established batsmen. You make some very good and fair points SP. Perhaps it is just me and I am in the minority. Don't get me wrong, I hope he makes it, plays successfully for Sussex for many year's and takes bucket loads of wickets. But at present, I feel the jury's still out. I just can't seem to see him through the rose tinted glasses so many others do. As I type this, Kimber lofts Carson for another six. That is 30 off his last nine deliveries. Not for the first time this season, he has been out bowled by Coles this morning.

43 runs off Robinsons 12th over. His previous 11 overs had gone for 23.
Thats got to be some sort of record.

Feel that was a tad generous with the declaration, they only need to go at 3.2 an over and they almost did it last year so they’ve got something to prove. Hope I’m wrong. Very prophetic Sir, Squeaky bum time is approaching

No disrespect to Jack Carson County Cap. Nonsense. There'll be old players turning in their grave. Whinge over Keep going Sussex. Puzzling decision. Putting the olden days to one side, Ollie Robinson was our leading bowler for several years before getting his cap. So Robinson far too late, Carson far too soon.

I am watching some absolute terrible bowling and game management here. Awful. Well done Kimber. What on earth is going on?

43 runs off Robinsons 12th over. His previous 11 overs had gone for 23. Thats got to be some sort of record. Dear old Harmsie and his BBC Leics colleague seem to think it’s an English FC record off 1 over. We need Mr Harms to goat mouth Kimber asap or we’re losing this or maybe it’s only Sussex batsmen he gets out.

Kimber is having the innings of his life and single handedly winning this for Leics, can only think Simpson and his bowlers are suffering from heatstroke

We are on the wrong end of a freak innings here. We are not handling it well, but this is once in a lifetime stuff.

FHP’s one over goes for 24. We’ve run out of ideas and bowlers.

These opposition always seem to have the games of their careers against us don’t they? I remember as a lad going through the Playfair Cricket books each year and the number of times county players would have their Highest Score in FC or OD or best bowling v Sussex was innumerable

Hopefully, we can regroup over lunch and come back this afternoon with a clear plan to pick up the final three wickets.
Well played Louis Kimber, but surely his luck and Leicestershire's must run out at some point.
If the unthinkable happens, you have to look at that Ollie Robinson over as the turning point.

FHP’s one over goes for 24. We’ve run out of ideas and bowlers. I'm here and it was very clear pretty quickly the short bowling ploy wouldnt work but for some reason they stuck with and it's likely to have cost them the game.
