Hopefully, we can regroup over lunch and come back this afternoon with a clear plan to pick up the final three wickets. Well played Louis Kimber, but surely his luck and Leicestershire's must run out at some point. If the unthinkable happens, you have to look at that Ollie Robinson over as the turning point. I’d be surprised if we won from here

I’d be surprised if we won from here It does have that look about it. Kimber has certainly rode his luck. I believe four chances, albeit to be more accurate difficult half chances and a couple that fell to gaps in the field. If only one of them had been taken or gone to hand. I am just hoping the lunch break works in our favour. You can't help feeling if we get one out, it will open up one end and the other two should follow. Perhaps, forget the short stuff and bowl at the stumps or just outside off for a while? The problem is if this carnage continues, we might not even get to the second new ball.

Clearly someone has hypnotised Louis Kimber into believing he’s Ben Stokes.

Some dreadful bowling by Robinson resulting in 43 off an over and from Hudson-Prentice conceding 24 off an over.

Clearly someone has hypnotised Louis Kimber into believing he’s Ben Stokes. He’s now passed Stokes record of 17 6’s in a championship innings.

Sussex of last couple of years would have lost that but fought back well after lunch to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat instead of vice versa as we’ve seen before.

Great to see how all the Sussex lads congratulated and commiserated with Kimber on his outstanding innings and effort in trying to get his side home.
I did say we only needed to open up one end and that is how it played out.
Although for the second year running against the same opposition, way to close for comfort. 99 times out of 100 we would have wrapped that up comfortably.
It was a brilliant innings, but also I suspect a one off. Not in anyway wishing to devalue it, but we probably witnessed the highlight of Kimber's career.
Just a thought, but in my humble opinion getting ourselves into trouble with a poor over rate and having to open with spin at both ends may not have helped our cause this morning. Would Kimber have found it as easy to get started with seam from one end?
I don't believe I have ever seen Robinson so at a loss in how to bowl at someone. Normally, so consistent, accurate and reliable, he seemed to have no plan on how to bowl at Kimber. That will probably alarm the England selectors more than the one over that went for 43.
Important win, even though Leicestershire would have closed the gap on us, Middlesex and Yorkshire would have been the big winners.
Two wins from three in our remaining matches against the weaker sides in the Division, Northants, Gloucestershire and Derbyshire should be enough to seal promotion.
Weather and a more reliable rail service permitting (8 hours to get home last night/this morning), hope to pop back up for the Derbyshire match.

Must confess that a small part of me wanted Kimber to pull that off. Shame that so few people would have witnessed it but what a privilege it must have been for those who did.

We are on the wrong end of a freak innings here. We are not handling it well, but this is once in a lifetime stuff. These opposition always seem to have the games of their careers against us don’t they? I remember as a lad going through the Playfair Cricket books each year and the number of times county players would have their Highest Score in FC or OD or best bowling v Sussex was innumerable My Dad used to quote exactly the same thing!! "V SUSSEX OF COURSE" he'd say in a matter-of-fact way.

I don't know if you were there or not but if you were you'd know he asked to bowl short pitched. He bowled his heart out and got the very key wicket off Cox and then hard Mike dropped shortly after. Great win in the end and if we don't get deductions 112 points from 6 games guarantees us promotion

Hopefully mitigated by the way he quickly put it behind him and took the responsibility of leading the attack at the business end of the game.
