Worst wicket I have seen all season. A 25 point deductiion and the sacking of the Head Groundsman should follow immediately. How are we supposed to produce test batsmen when we produce absolute rubbish cricket pitches like this? Given the scores at Leicester, Chesterfield, Cheltenham and Chester-le-street I suspect the weather conditions played a big part in what happened today (which is not to deny the pitch was likely at fault too).

They watered the pitch too close to the start of play according to the commentators. That was an avoidable mistake. No wonder the pitch was a minefield today.

I'm not a fan of this shoehorning two championship games into the middle of the blast season, must be difficult for the less experienced players to switch back and forth between the two. I think that's why we've seen a few people eg. Coles get out to what looks like a daft shot.

Whatever target we set, we’re not going to relax until the job’s done in the aftermath of the Leics game.

Not one 50 partnership in the match, so far
EDIT 😔

Squeaky bum time tomorrow morning. To state the obvious, early wickets required. Two new batsmen in, we have every chance.

What’s wrong with Ollie Rob? He’s on the field but not bowling, only bowled 3 today.

What’s wrong with Ollie Rob? He’s on the field but not bowling, only bowled 3 today. Has to be injured Joe. No other explanation given the match situation as to why he isn't bowling. The mystery is if he isn't fit, why is he still on the field? Saying all that, I see he has now left the field. Hopefully, we still have enough with our other bowlers to see this through. McAndrew strikes twice!!

Thank gawd for that, I was getting a little worried about their No 11 who was clearly struggling poor lad.
Another win, another great team performance.
GOSBTS!

Huge kudos to Farbrace.
Nathan McAndrew must be one of, if not, the best county signings of 2024.
He will be 31 years-old in a few weeks, but with a tough Aussie build, he still has a few years left in the tank.
Factoid: McAndrew is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Wollongong. So not just a piece of brawn.

Thank gawd for that, I was getting a little worried about their No 11 who was clearly struggling poor lad. Another win, another great team performance. GOSBTS! Fair play to their number 11, he was clearly suffering. Hope he makes a quick recovery. Yet another match that a couple of seasons ago we would have failed to win. Not exactly a complete performance, but at the same time I thought everyone at some point made telling contributions. Hudson-Prentice second innings aside, I thought everyone bowled well. Carson was very impressive and Hunt completely vindicating the decision to select him ahead of Lamb and Karvelas. He is rapidly developing into excellent support to Robinson and whichever overseas is in situ at the time. Out of our batters, I feel Alsop deserves singling out. He may not have got the big scores, but showed excellent application and technique in both innings. I thought we were a bit light in only making 237 second time around, even though it turned out to be enough on a challenging surface. Completely baffled by Simpson and Robinson's approach for our last wicket. Besides Yorkshire who now seem to have hit a rich vein of form, all other results in this round of matches look like going in our favour. If we can come away with something from Scarborough next month and deliver in our remaining fixtures against the two bottom sides, we should seal the long awaited promotion back to Division One.

With all respect to Jaydev Unadkat (who’s another fine bowler) what a shame we can’t keep McAndrew for the rest of the season. All our overseas signings have contributed well so far though so fingers crossed this continues.
We may have enough wins in the bag already provided we keep picking up bonus points but obviously we’d all want at least one more to be sure of promotion.

Great to win. We are not home and hosed though. Yorkshire are in steamroller mode, and Middlesex are still only a win behind us even if they lose to Leics. . So with two strong teams on our tail, we have to keep delivering.

Great to win. We are not home and hosed though. Yorkshire are in steamroller mode, and Middlesex are still only a win behind us even if they lose to Leics. . So with two strong teams on our tail, we have to keep delivering. If Middx don’t win their current game, we’ll have 5 wins, Middx will have 3 and Yorks 2. So we have a good safety margin but we’d all want to extend our winning streak and nail it down securely. I’m particularly hoping for revenge over Glamorgan.
