With Alsop, Coles, Mills and Robinson in the hundred, no overseas players (Hughes and McAndrew) and Currie and Ward on T20 only contracts our XI is likely to be very different.
My XI would be Haines, Clark, Lion-Cachet, Carter, Simpson wk, Hudson-Prentice, Ibrahim, Lamb, Carson, Karvelas, Hunt.

No Crocombe, CP? Have you no heart?
Haines, Clark, ZLC, Simpson, Rogers, Carter wk, Ibrahim, Lamb, Foreman, Crocombe, Hunt.
Karvelas, FHP, Carson to get a chance too. Carson up the order.
I would also try and renegotiate Ward and Currie’s contracts to get them in the squad

Currie has signed a contract to play in the Canadian T20 competition, next month. He is also under contract to Cricket Scotland.

Is it time for 50 over cricket to be put out of its misery ?

Is it time for 50 over cricket to be put out of its misery ? I take your point but is it right that a load of decent cricketers/non sloggers are left twiddling their thumbs in the supposedly best month for cricket in our summer? The Hundred effectively dictates the summer programme for all formats.

Is it time for 50 over cricket to be put out of its misery ? Certainly on the world stage there just isnt the room in the calender to do it with these new franchise competitions popping up all over the world. Domestically we need to fill august up somehow and a 40 over comp would probably suffice.

Presumably he must be part of the 50 over squad or was he just signed to play second eleven cricket? If the latter then not sure of the reasoning behind bringing his recruitment.

He has been playing some 2s. I don’t think it’s unusual to have people effectively making up the numbers . In another season he would probably nearer the first team. He’s at the back of a long queue right now though

Hope we’ll use this competition to give players like Foreman, Lenham, Ibrahim, Tear and Lion-Cachet some opportunities rather than fielding our strongest available XI each game.

Just as a side note: the Hertfordshire wicket keeper Leo Davies is listed to bat at number 11. It’s a long time since I last saw that happen.

FHP has failed again with the bat, he’s having a season to forget.
