Wah hey!!!!! First Sussex debutante to score a century on debut in a county championship game in 95 years. (others , including Joe Gatting did it in non- championship cricket) Typos forgiven - and pour one for me! Ollie Rayner against Sri Lanka.

hh and s&f will know the answer to this quiz queastion as I tested it out on them one day last season:
Who was the last batsman to score a century on debut for Sussex? (note: bit of a trick question, ity wasn't in a championship match and the key lies in the words 'debut for Sussex'? )

I suppose one could expand it to ask for the name of the player who scored a century in his first, last and only innings for Sussex ...

But note the words 'it wasn't in a championship match' !!! Meanwhile, the Sussex tenth wkt record has just been snatched from Box and Cox or whatever they were called as Hobden hits another six!

And the records keep on falling. I suspect 4.46pm may be the latest time tea has ever been taken on a Sunday at Chester-le-Street...

Meanwhile, a very good score to go into at tea, and Durham must be wondering what happened to the great Fortress Chester-le-Street plan. The weather isn't going to get a lot warmer, so this green pasture will just stay muddy and worn. Chapter Two for Hobden and Robinson tomorrow, or more of the Shahzad and Magoffin show?

Listening to the game on BBC commentaries on the net. Amazing last wicket partnership. Has the wicket dried out and now helping batters? Wonder what the conversation is in the Durham dressing room.

What's going on with track and conditions? Did our batters just make a monumental balls-up of their job? Hobbo and Robbo getting a taste of their own medicine. But well done to them anyway. Strange old day.
