Cachopa's dismissal: excellent picture that tells a story about the wicket and conditions, at least earlier today Where does the pitch end and the rest of the square start? That's far greener even than the strip I saw at Chelmsford last week, which had the bed-wetters among Kent's support bleating about pitch-inspectors and Essex cheating! Terrible position from Cachopa, though. Talk about being 'squared-up' by the bowler. But I don't suppose growing up in SA and NZ he will have ever seen a wicket as green as that...

Colly has not only been hit for six by this partnership but has been hit for six by Hobden.

That is the quality of the championship still, that it does test players in every way and those that come through it are better. Still wouldn't like to face that on a cold April day....

And Ollie has such faith in Hobden's batting that he's taken a single of the first or second ball of the last three overs. Hobden responds to his faith by smacking Collingwood for four and six...as the 10th wicket partnership goes past 100.
Nine wkts down means tea can be delayed by 8 overs/30 mins. Durham must hate that; all they will want to do is get back in the dressing room and try to regroup...

Couldn't stop myself getting Playfair out. Record 10th wicket for Sussex is 156 by Cox and Butt in 1908.

It is permissible to congratulate Hobden on his highest f-c score, and Robinson on just about everything. Shhhhhh for the rest.

Cox and Butt is an unfortunate concatenation of names. Reminds of New Zealand's Bob Cunis, whom John Arlott once described on air as "neither one thing or the other"...

A remarkable recovery and what makes cricket so incredible. We may even gain a third batting point at this rate. "Extraordinary!" said in an Alan Partridge tone.
Edit: Oll-ie Oll-ie, Oll-ie! AMAZING!

Indeed, in the tones of this Tweet: jon filby @aewparsons Reminded again by the great game that the more you know the less you know #cricket #funnyoldgame

Remarkable partnership from Robinson and Hobden. Congratulations to Hobden on his maiden fifty and Robinson on his maiden first class century on debut.

Not only Hobden's maiden f/c fifity but he has doubled his career aggregate of runs in one innings... the third batting point comes up and Robinson one shot away and the record partnership just 19 runs away...
what an afternoon's cricket.
