We could run with a leaner fitter squad. In addition to those you mention, we will probably have to re-negotiate a contract for Mills if he only intends to play T20. As things stand, our priorities are, a top notch overseas seam bowling all rounder, a spinner and probably another seasoned batsman. There should be enough budget freed up to recruit those three, and perhaps promote someone from the seconds. As of now, I would imagine we'd be looking at Salt following his good start to the season. Hopefully, we can find a way of recruiting at least one of those before the summers out. Forget the overseas seam bowling all-rounder and get an overseas spinner. We won three county championship with Mushtaq!

However, Faulkner and Tredwell would be perfect for me, if we could get those two, then we could perhaps manage without a new batter

A new opening batsman and middle order batsman maybe needed unless a major turnaround of collective form occurs.

So it seems that it is not just the 1st XI that is having batting problems .... At Guidlford today Surrey 2nds made 296-6 from their 50 overs. Sussex have just been bowled out for 73 in fewer than half of the allotted overs. Batting line-up (in the order the wickets fell) : Salt (6), H-Prentice (2), Finch (3), Piolet (6), Beer (0), Zaidi (1), Rawlins (0), Jackson (20) Mills (15), Liddle (9), Whittingham (1*)
Oh dear....

I know Surrey where all out for 305 Zaidi taking 5-43 and that Sussex where 114-4 after 26 overs and Craig Cachopa got to 50 from 60 balls but anyone know the close of play score ?

Sussex fold meekly from 161-2 to 193 all out. So not too many there putting their names forward for Arundel

Some qualified good news is this Tweet from the excellent groundsman James Askew: 3day game over. pitch marked very good with comments from umps of perfect championship pitch :-)
If he reproduces this kind of pitch for the Notts game then both our batsmen and our spinners (whoever they may be) should find it rewarding.

Come on HH, the batsmen have been poor but to say we only have two is harsh. Notts next is it - do they have a better spinner than whatever spinner we have?
