Are Sussex now going to sign Carl Cachopa as well as Craig?
And what about the third brother, Brad - is he over here, too, or is he still back in NZ?
We are a 'family club' after all!

Well Craig has managed runs for the firsts let alone the seconds but where is he now? We're so desperate we'll sign anyone so I wouldn't be surprised if Carl gets a gig too. What's the score anyway?

In the Second XI Championship game against Gloucester Zaidi looks to be making a case for his readmission as batsman at least with scores of 67 and 68. Burgoyne continues to do more than useful things at this level anyway, with 38 in the first innings and figures of 15-6-21-6 with offspin in the Gloucester first innings. He was mainly a batsman with Derbyshire, but perhaps this is the start of a new phase for his career? It would be nice to have an off-spinning all rounder.
Latest scores: Sussex 236 and 187-7 (HP 31no, Burgoyne 7no), Gloucester 191. Looks like an interesting game.

Good knocks yesterday from Yardy, who scored a quick century, and 16 year old Tom Haines, who scored a fifty The game is set for a good finish today

From Twitter: Left arm seamer Alex Lilley took 4-26 as @sussexseconds beat @glamcricket by 43 runs at @prestonnomads today That would be left-arm seamer Alex Lilley www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/467813.htmlwho has grown up with Yorkshire age-group cricket, been through their Academy etc? Great to get these players turning out for Sussex and building careers here, but what is does this say about our Academy, and what message does it send to the players who've been through the Sussex process? Either that they've wasted their time, or that they're not good enough anyway, or that something is missing in the process.

Either that they've wasted their time, or that they're not good enough anyway, or that something is missing in the process. I agree. We have Grant, Moses, Sakande and Whittingham who continue to be selected year after year as Academy Plus players but then we proceed to try seamer after seamer from outside the county. Either play them or tell them they are not good enough so they can pursue a career at another county rather than wasting their time at Sussex. Why aren't we playing Garton more? Garton scored 738 runs @ 31 and has taken 77 wickets @ 22 for Sussex in age group cricket between 2012-14. Too often we have picked seamers for the Academy based on how fast they can bowl instead of whether they can actually take wickets.

Garton played in the same match as Lilley, and his figures were not that impressive. Having said that, I don't have a problem trialling seamers, although to fair, that's the first decent set of figures Lilley's produced. As for Garton, his time will come.

You can't seriously be judging players on just one game! I see Horsham chased down a stiff target yesterday thanks to 74 from George Garton and 53 from Tom Haines and Callum Jackson scored 156* for Eastbourne. My three Academy Plus players for 2016 would be Leo Cammish, George Garton and Phil Salt.

Another century for Zaidi today, 143 not out against a very strong Middlesex attack

Another century for Zaidi today, 143 not out against a very strong Middlesex attack I think Zaidi and Brown are both unfortunate not to be in the 50 overs side. It will be interesting to see if Jordan bowls; wasn't there some suggestion that his comeback might initially be as a batsman-only?
