Why was Zaidi batting at number nine below Salt, van Buren, Hudson-Prentice, Rawlins and Cammish?

Another eh. Form speaks volumes and does a lot to silence even the harshest of views. He's been unlucky not to feature more this season frankly - not sure why he was dropped from his last Champ game to be fair. If he was from England and younger I'd be so posting about this guy. I should rephrase that a touch - if he was what I considered to be a legitimate overseas...

Three times that I heard at tonight's reasonably well attended Middlesex game the PA made an announcement asking people to stay off the outfield at the end of the game to allow the ground staff to prepare for 'a game' tomorrow. Wouldn't it have made sense to tell everyone what the game was and that they could wander in and watch a bit of free cricket in the sun, in the school holidays? No wonder only one man and his dog turn up to the seconds matches

Century for Callum Jackson and fifties for Phil Salt and Leo Cammish as Sussex closed on 394-6. Salt's 50 came off 32 balls with 6 4's and 4 6's.

Another ton for Whacko, get him in the one-day side for Christ's sake - what's to lose? Young Salt has had an impressive start to his senior career so far. A junior pro conract? Why not? We have to put much more emphasis on blooding these players properly, which means trusting them to play and letting them make mistakes without condemnation. On the other hand, we could continue to import other counties often aged rejects and continuously fail with attempts at success and a progression plan.
Don't get me wrong, there's no guarantees that Jackson, Salt & Co are gonna make it, we all know that, but they have more of a chance of making it than a proven failure or old pensioner from another county. What's the point in an Academy otherwise?
The bulk of your back up players should be young and come through your system for the sake of your future. We're not looking after that side of our game when we sign up ridiculous loans or other counties' flops instead of trusting our grads with a job they could do no worse at, evidently.

I see Moin Ashraf got 4 wickets and 47 not out against Sussex today. He is back from a failed trial with Hampshire but will be allowed to leave Headingley. Sussex should sign him up now.

Well if he's young and English I'm halfway on board. As long as we're not signing 35 year olds or 'locals' from five thousand miles away I'm generally on board. Will he fancy a stint in div 2?

Three years ago he was Yorkshire's main one day "death" bowler but injuries dropped him down the pecking order. He has never really had a chance since and the emergence of others has blocked his way. He is still young enough to come good and the two previous Yorkshire discards to pitch up at Hove have done rather well so worth a punt.
