Losing happens, it's how we're losing that is worrying.
Wickets needed to be treasured or else we will be dragged further into the dogfight at the bottom as we certainly don't have the bowlers fit enough to compensate for silly mistakes.

I've been on to miracleshappen.com and placed an order for 7 wickets for Magoffin, 3 for Ollie and a Hampshire score of 86 all out.
I am told the web company are a bit iffy but we shall wait and see.

I have just retrieved an old hat from a cupboard in case you are right because I am prepared to eat if it this happens.

So much for the Paddy Ashdown hat. Perhaps, Arundel can weave a magic spell.

You're so right, Steve. In our second innings today, our last 4 wickets fell for 4 runs!

Eighth wicket partnerships were the difference between the two teams in the last two games.

Another day off for the lads. Sussex already playing three-day cricket without the need for ECB initiatives.

A common theme - great start, we're gonna win the league, spectacular collapse, wheels are off we're down, strong finish, thank you mid table. I think we're a bit stale myself. Same old same old but that same old ain't bad for a club of Sussex's size, really. No doubt this horrendous run will linger on a bit but then we'll hit our straps again, just like the last two seasons. We need a freshen up in the batting maybe, and a bowler or two back, obviously.

I agree, fraudster - I've been thinking that for the past year or so. I wonder if it's because most of our coaching staff are old boys. Has the club suffered from a lack of fresh, innovative, non-Sussex ideas in recent years? I think it's fair to say that most businesses tend to get stale if everyone gets promoted from within. This isn't a criticism of any individual coach, but I do wonder if the club has created a stale situation as a result of its recruitment policies. I think one can take the "friendly, family club" philosophy too far.

I think one can take the "friendly, family club" philosophy too far. These are obviously valid points of view. To take the discussion further one would need to argue the extent to which the club has really "suffered" in recent years as a result of sticking to its much respected values and coaching practices. Consecutive finishing positions in the County Championship of 5th, then 4th, 3rd and 3rd (our last four seasons) would have been considered almost unimaginably consistent "success" during most periods of the club's 175 year history. This season is proving a tough one and yet we sit effectively 5th in the table again. Have we really reached a point where only trophy contention is now good enough for us South Coast giants of the game...? Quite an achievement by all involved if that is true and will certainly be a hard act to follow.
