Yes, thanks for that clarifaction, Jon. And to add a little further non-text speak detail: the only reason Magoffin had to be deregistered in order to register DS was that his kolpak status had expired, was it not? In previous years the deregistration issue would not have arisen And wally - JF is vice-chairman, not vice president - and VC is much more important than VP. Have a look at the letter-head of any American bank, where you will find they list dozens of vice-presidents. But there is only one vice chairman! Yes - Dwayne had no Kolpak status last season, or indeed this, which is why he had to be registered as an overseas player.

I apologize for getting your title wrong mr filby...I knew it had something to do with vice but not being a member I am not the strongest on sussex governance, especially with the new merger and the museum. But at least like you I knew the rules and that you were being helpful not disingenuous. And even if I thought you were being disingenuous even a tiny bit there was no need for the rude riposte.

Jez, our Club Vice-Chairman has the decency to post on this Board and immediately a spat occurs. Come on chaps this new MB is better than that. Jon was one of the few IC who genuinely wanted to show us how to set this Board up. He's one of the good guys.

It seems strange to me that Sussex would hold a Press Conference at another club's ground, seems a bit rude! Lol.

While we wait for the 11.30 press conference, to pick up on the debate about the signing of international T20 specialists - Glamorgan have today announced the signing of Darren Sammy in addition to Michael Hogan (Australia but EU passport), Jacques Rudoplh (South Africa) and Murray Goodwin (Zimbabwe with an Australian passport but exempt from the NQ regulations on length of residency?)
Sammy will make his T0 debut v...Sussex Sharks on Friday. Not sure if he is a kolpak (he's retired from Test cricket but I think still hopes to play T20s for West Indies so I don't see how he can be?)

May & Robinson both addressing journos, Toumasi and Joyce also present. Robinson: The last couple of weeks have been upsetting for everyone involved with the club. It's caused a lot of distress.

Just read the letter. Unfortunately, it doesn't address the issue that is worrying us all. I assume the journos will ask all the right questions.

Just read the letter. It doesn't address the issue that is worrying us all. Hope the journos ask the right questions. I thnk it is a very decent attempt to reassure and says most of the right things that I would have liked to have been said by Sussex last Thursday (although it does not include a statement of support for whistleblowers, which is a vital issue for reasons discussed at length eariler in this thread.) I can't see anything that is remotely contentious in what it says or any reason why it couldn't have been released five days ago. But it is welcome and despite the "good position moving forward" it doesn't hide behind the complacent claim that corruption is purely an "historical" problem or that it's nothing to do with the club, it was just two individuals (although something along those lines has since been said at the pc). So a broad welcome from me for what is now belatedly being said.

So a broad welcome from me for what is now belatedly being said. Yes, similar thoughts here. A much stronger, positive message about support for whistleblowing would have been welcome and I'm not really sure why that wasn't included, particularly when the open letter goes on to talk about the very real anger and feeling of insult that current players have that this kind of suspicion could hang over them. What's still at large, and perhaps cannot be commented on until Vincent's case has its day in court, are the statements made by Vincent about separate third-person knowledge of, and in one case involvement in, corruption at both the Lancashire and Kent games. I think we all hope its just some confused rambling by Vincent, but until its absolutely refuted the shadow remains, if not the stain.

Hmmm - I agree with BM that this statement could have been released some time ago. There is nothing new in it and I guess any of us could have written it.
I know I'm being impatient - sorry! - but I'm waiting for the whole story, and I guess that won't emerge until Vincent's case is fully out in the open.
BM, do you have a note of the journos' questions, and the club's answers?
