Yes very satisfactory, and the target must be a minimum of 550, and bat at least until tea. That should, I believe, secure the draw

Sussex should always be looking for a win from now on, because they have so few points in the bank. The likely result on this wicket may be a draw, but we won't really know until we have bowled and seen how Warwickshire cope. A defensive mentality will see us defeated and relegated.

Well we'll have to disagree on this one. I would imagine that Warwickshire line up is more than capable of matching at least what we do. Bat until tea, and I reckon we'd be looking at 550, which if they matched that, in the same amount of time, there'd be too little time left for either side to win. I don't see how we can force the issue, other than by declaring now, which I think would be extremely foolhardy. I don't feel batting on reduces our chances of winning, quite the opposite in fact.

But then again, I'm naturally cautious

Keeping a team standing in the field for nearly two days often produces a couple of quick wickets. I think we should keep batting and hope we can rattle out some out tonight. 550 plays 100 for 3 or 4 at the close would be a good day's work.

Just an additional point, I bet our bowlers are enjoying some time on the balcony for a change!!!

Agreed. No point in batting through today so are fresh tomorrow. At least 20 overs at them tonight. Seven down by close of play.

Just noticed that Warwickshire have donated us just 5 extras out of 476. From memory, we are conceding at about 10% of runs scored against us as extras. I know they've had slow bowlers on much of the time, but it is still better than us!

I know they've had slow bowlers on much of the time, but it is still better than us! It does go against the trend, I agree. I think it helps when for much of the game they have used slower bowlers who bowl wicket to wicket rather than hurtling down thunderbolts that veer high and wide - the source of most of the extras this season both for and against us.

I have various bruises on my arms after all this pinching since Friday evening.
Sussex are a completely different Championship team and it's a joy to listen to on BBC Coventry. Delighted for Robinson who can take a deep breath of relief after the difficult recent months. No talk of batting coaches after this performance and so pleased for the club's senior batsmen. Now it's up to Ed to rediscover his Captain Marvel cloak. Luke Wright appears to have borrowed it.

In a fairly thin field I would go for Luke Wright as player of the month for June, but only by a short head from Brown.

I would imagine that Warwickshire line up is more than capable of matching at least what we do. Not necessarily. 500 is up and another ten overs to go until tea. Bat on for another ten after tea by which time we might be close to 600 and have 20 overs at them tonight. Scoreboard pressure may be a cliche - but only because it so often turns out to be a significant factor. Any side going in to bat after 170 gruelling overs in the field and knowing they need the best part of 450 to avoid the follow-on is under the cosh and I'd be disdappointed if Sussex don't shoot out three or four of them in the last hour or so tonight - and with two entire days to go, you'd hope we could take the other 16/17 wkts on a pitch that is expected to show increasing signs of wear and force a win... That's best case scenario, of course, and requires our three spinners to bowl well. But I think it's a more than realistic possibility, too...
