This looks like yet another 'must win' match that we aren't going to win. Maybe, it's become a 'must draw' game now.

So we're going to get out of this mess by hitting sixes and giving wickets away.

I'm betting Chris Read enforces the follow on today, despite this being an 'old fashioned' tactic.

Atm I seriously doubt if we could match their score in 3 innings, let alone 2.

I'm betting Chris Read enforces the follow on today, despite this being an 'old fashioned' tactic. the most old fashioned technique on display this morning seems to be Notts bowling steadily and allowing Sussex batsmen to get over confident. Nice day here and nice pitch - shame that only one side has belief in itself.

In the words of that great England football manager "do I not like this".

Where do the points come that will help us stay up?
Worcs? Somerset? Middlesex?
Can't see us taking too much off Yorkshire.

It's not as if their bowling attack is in a much better condition than ours. Pretty hopeless, though nice to see Machan get another hundred.

Hurts to see Gurney bowling us out. A man selected for England because he is a left-armer.

Time for change: Coach: Someone New Capt: Wright Squad: Beer Brown Capocha Jordan Machan Magoffin Mills Nash Robinson Shahzad Wells Open to suggestion on others. I think the local lads Finch, Jackson, Hobden, Hudson-Prentice and maybe Hatchett if Liddle goes are worth persevering with. I've been disappointed with Cachopa. I really think Finch has the ability to do a Machan, and Joyce surely will score runs if relieved of the captaincy (hopefully he gives up his Ireland career soon). Sign Liam Dawson and Herath as our overseas spinner if Sri Lanka look like moving on. Get Peter Moores back and make Wright skipper, as you say.

A spirited effort by Sussex - innings and 103 within 3 days. Funny how counties rarely manage to take a game into the fourth day when they are down to the tail late on. Still, another day's golf tomorrow.

A third ton of the season, two fifties for Wright and four wickets for Robinson the only highlights in an otherwise dismal Sussex performance. A complete overhaul of the coaching staff (Robinson, Davis, Hopkinson, Lewis and Greenfield) and a new captain need to be appointed at the end of the season. I think Joyce may retire at the end of the season. On the evidence of this season he probably should. As for new signings we need quality rather than quantity. An opener, all-rounder and overseas spinner must surely be on Sussex's winter recruitment drive. I would go with a squad of 20 next season. As for the team for next season: Wells New opener Machan Nash Wright (c) New all-rounder Brown (+) Jordan Shahzad Overseas spinner Magoffin Other squad members: Beer, Cachopa, Finch, Hatchett, Hobden, Hudson-Prentice, Jackson, Mills and Robinson. Averages: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/teams/sussex/averagesMachan, Wright, Brown, Shahzad, Magoffin, Robinson and Wells (bowling) good. Shame about the rest!
