Again, inconsistent, 158-6. I have not got the radio coverage on so I cannot tell if it is moving around or just some bad shots. I always tend to think it must be more of the bad shot when I see a lot of bowled on the scorecard. Not quite sure where the game will go from here but I do not think it will be good for Sussex. A few weeks ago I was thinking that Somerset looked quite a weak team and might be the team to go down with Northants. They crushed us at Hove and now look like putting some results together.
Why didn't Joyce come in at 3. The only player with any consistency. Maybe put him back to open and move Wells down to 3 or 4

Sadly, it's the same old, same old, with Joyce the only batter of any real quality. Others are sporadically capable but for the most part, come up short

The one-man Sussex show continues.
One wonders what Joyce must feel, at present. Exasperation perhaps? Can we gain a batting point or will this be another Notts game and Joyce scores 150 supported by Piolet and then Beer?
Whoever the Sussex batting coach is, there's a lot of hard work ahead to find any sort of consistency.

Whoever the Sussex batting coach is, there's a lot of hard work ahead to find any sort of consistency. I think we need to find another batter, a good solid county pro, who can grit out scores when needed. Then with two in there who can be relied on to give substance to the innings, we might get away with our other batters going for their shots.

Umpires inspecting now, rain still in the air but holding off, just. Restart announced for 5.20 with 22 overs left. Brown out to a stunning catch but no excuses for the rest.
edited. put Wright earlier hence later posts.

The Joyce and Beer partnership is probably our last chance of getting a batting point. Will's hit two lovely 4s to date. He really is looking a classy batsman. Commentator Adrian Harms twitter. Well worth following. Lovely photos of the Taunton ground surroundings this evening. twitter.com/AdrianHarmsedit: Oops, Beer now out. 2 wickets left - 8 runs required for 1 batting point.

Now beer gone - 199-8 but Joyce still there. That is going to annoy Beer being bowled by Dockrell. We now have 4 bowled out of 8, that seems too high to me. If only someone had looked and thought, I'll stay here and support Joyce. No silly shots just take the runs on offer. Let's see if Jimmy can last a 15/20 overs. It is common sense.

Well if the plan was for Beer and Piolet to bolster the batting, it failed. Hopefully their selection was about their bowling abilities and we can skittle Somerset out cheaply tomorrow. What more can we say about the skipper, head and shoulders above everyone else and without him we'd be Cerys for relegation

An all too familiar looking scorecard. Hopefully Mags and Anyon will be bang on when we bowl cos I ain't so sure about what's backing them up in the seam department. That Zum batting line-up looks mighty powerful.

There was talk of the wicket taking spin on day 1, so tomorrow could be Will Beer's day.
