Yep, things are unravelling badly.
Now Wells looks as if he could be out for awhile with his back injury. So, the wounded are:
Yardy, (6 weeks) Lewis (1/2 weeks) , Wells (?)
Jordan and Prior off to England.
The depth of our squad is simply not strong enough for division 1 and not clear what we can do about this half way through the season.
But don't take anything away from Thomas who has bowled out of his skin. Somerset are Championship contenders on present form. They have never won it. Perhaps, 2014 is their year.

hmmm, I tune in when I get up over here and I always miss the morning session and most of the action. I was hoping for more resolve but was not expecting it, unfortunately my expectations were more accurate. Not only are we losing games but we are losing them badly and not picking up (m)any bonus points. Could be costly at the end of the season. When you get on a roll it can be very hard to stop rolling (especially when it is downhill). HH, nice Goatmouth on Brown.
Bless my sole, another two gone whilst writing this post. Has the pitch degenerated since Overton (previous high score of 50) scored 86? I hate that the match fixing scandal is being used as an excuse. No excuses. Not entirely a goatmouth since they went out to make 71, the highest Sussex partnership of the match. I don't think anyone is blaming match-fixing for the poor performances - see my post earlier about all the slings and arrows that Sussex faced going in to this match - but it probably doesn't help to have that to cope with as well as numerous injuries, players out of form, Test match calls and so on

This game is lost - it is the next two or three games that are now really important.
It is good that it is not a five match series against Somerset or we might be facing a 5-0 whitewash.
Lets not panic, a nice flat Hove pitch and a high scoring draw would be the best thing for us now.

Hope is a wonderful thing!
90 runs ahead, Beer and Piolet get their 50 partnership. A 150 lead and it could still be game on. We just need another piece of Mags magic.

And before Yorks in the four day game we have...Somerset again at Arundel in the T20 on Sunday!

All out. Somerset require 104 to win. Can they score them in the 30 overs left after tea? So much for hope!

32 overs after tea and they can take the extra half our/eight overs tonight so 40 overs to get 104 runs at 2.5 an over. I think we can take it that the Sussex side will be driving back up the M4 tonight.
If we lose this, the season's results (T20 and LVCC combined) will read as follows:-
Pre- match fixing scandal :
Played 7, won 4, lost 1.
Post match fixing scandal :
Played 5 (plus one abandoned without a ball bowled), won 0, lost 4.
It might be pure coincidence. I really don't know. But it is quite striking.

bm, As you say striking stats or is it coincidence and more to do with injuries and losing Jordan to England. Certainly, Robinson looked and sounded deeply upset at the Members Public Forum last week. And that upset could easily rub off on the players. Being Sussex through and through, he wears his heart on his sleeve. And this comment from Andre Adams today can't help things either. The sword of Damocles et al... "...the report is taking a long time to come out, but the magnitude of what will be in there will surprise people I'm sure."
We know there is a planned shared Press Conference with the ECB once the report is published. The sooner it comes out the better, then finally, the Club can move on. These allegations have been hanging over Sussex and their supporters since November 2012 when Ed Hawkins book was published and salt was added to that wound by Peter Hayter's article last Summer. Therefore, kudos to Sussex for performing on the pitch and coming 3rd in the Championship last season. www.nottinghampost.com/Nottinghamshire-bowler-Andre-Adams-opens-match/story-21210544-detail/story.html#ixzz34FbsTU00

Certainly, Robinson looked and sounded deeply upset at the Members Public Forum last week. And that upset could easily rub off on the players. The moment that I feared that perhaps there was something seriously wrong in the camp was when Robinson chose to have a heated confrontation with several Notts players in public when they came off the field for tea at Hove last week. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the issue, it was ill-advised and out of character and suggested recent events have generated considerable stress. That the unseemly shouting and arm-waving was allegedly about some idiotically inconsequential posts on twitter only served to emphasise that nerves appear to be very frayed at the moment.

Poor old Beer, you do feel for him.
One suggests, given the list of walking wounded, Robbo should put Will in the side for his batting, if he doesn't have faith in his spin.
edit: Oh well, a 6 wicket win for Somerset and a double whammy over Sussex. Not sure what lessons can be learned from this but most are negative, sadly. The game will be remembered for the 'Thomas torment'.
One has sympathy for Joyce and Magoffin.
Adrian Harms says this will be a testing time for Sussex. They need to pick themselves up with Arundel looming at the weekend.

I was afraid that would happen if he was given a bowl in this abbreviated innings: bad for him and reflects badly on his captain for doing it.

Could not agree less, hh. He has been around the Sussex set-up for c.14 years. He knows what is required. He does not produce it in 2nd XI cricket. I admit he has some limited success in the abbreviated form of the game. I just fear he does not have what it takes to make it in the game, more's the pity. It is the same with Max Waller at Taunton and Michael Munday before him.

I suggest that the coaching and playing staff use the unwanted extra day off tomorrow not to spend more time in the nets but to have a day out at a health farm, taking some chill pills, calming down and doing some deep relaxation exercises.
The shamrock skipper is fine ( a stressed-out Irishman seems to be as much of an oxymoron as 'military intelligence') and the Aussie bowler seems to have a grand sense of perspective ("the sheep haven't got scrapie and there are tinnies in the cool-box - what's to fret about?") But English fear and angst seems to be consuming the rest of 'em, just like it did in Australia last winter.
Hopefully the health farm has a sports psychologist, too, one who can explain that even when it's your job and your livelihood, you play cricket for the joy and the pleasure of it.
Funnily enough, I think it's time to bring Zaidi back into the side at the Oval on Friday night. He got a bit stressed-out with the weight of expectation Robinson and Joyce placed upon him, asking him to replace Monty, bat in the top six and open the bowling in T20. But he's a man who knows cricket is meant to be fun and swells with pride every time he puts on a Sussex shirt. Tone down the ludicrously over-the-top expectation, and I reckon he might flourish.
I'd also suggest that Sussex swiftly register Amjad on an emergency pay-as-you-play deal and put him straight in the side on Friday night. He's fit, back in England after wintering in Denmark and South Africa and playing club cricket in Kent. Went to Canterbury on Sunday (and saw Bopara make a very classy century), and was told that the day before Amjad not only took 2 for 6 in the Kent Premier League for Lordswood v Sandwich, but also hit a very rapid match-winning century.
