Middlesex making batting look very easy. Any chance of stopping the Robson express train? Sussex's bowlers wasting the new ball with nine overs of utter garbage so far!

Sounds like batting fourth v middx spinners will be a real test. Middx slow left armer took 4-42 but Sussex left arm spinner didn't bowl in final session . From afar seems a strange decision. Engrossing match, though...

Engrossing match, though... The cricinfo reporter at Lord's agrees www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2015/content/story/907949.html. It is nice to see Yardy get praise in what could be his final match for his gritty but vital batting, and good to read a report that isn't hopelessly partisan about either side. Following the score from afar it does seem to be perfectly poised now, and if the worn pitch (it was used for a one day match last week) does start to break up then our spin bowlers will have plenty to work on. The 66 run lead looked good at the time, and may still have a big effect if one or two wickets fall early. Come on Sussex - Hampshire look to be stuffing Warwickshire, you can't let them push you into last place.

Somerset
Worcester (H) Yorkshire (A) Hampshire (H) Sussex (H) Warwickshire (H)
Worcestershire
Somerset (A) Sussex (H) Durham (A) Middlesex (H)
Sussex
Yorkshire (H) Worcestershire (A) Somerset (H) Yorkshire (A)
Hampshire
Durham (a) Somerset (a) Yorkshire (h) Notts (a)
With three home games and a game in hand Somerset will definitely stay up. Hampshire have the hardest run in of all the teams with three away games remaining and will probably finish bottom. The loser of the Worcestershire v Sussex game on 1st September will be relegated.

Breakthrough by Magoffin still with a fragment of lead.

We must get Robson, Compton and Malan out before lunch. Robson is starting to really annoy me. Any chance of someone actually getting him out anytime soon?

Why are we not using our spinners when our batsmen didn't have a clue how to play Ravi Patel?

Why are we not using our spinners when our batsmen didn't have a clue how to play Ravi Patel? You can't expect the captain to change the plan in the middle of the match, FGS!

Forget the bowling plan on the locker of the dressing room. Good captain show initiative and adapt to the game situation and the pitch. At the moment we might as well have a robot as captain.

Nice lunchtime finish from Zaidi - Middlesex effectively 61-3. Game on - and let's hope there are no theories or formulae applied this very crucial afternoon.

Zaidi from one end and rotate the three seamers from the other. This is definitely a pitch all left arm spinners would be packing into their suitcase.

Zaidi appears to be only bowling 2 over spells?! Perhaps he's not 100% fit?
