Why put in a bowler who goes for shedloads and bowl tons of no balls? Better to go with an opener, get a score on the board (hopefully with Machan bothering to turn up and actually score runs in this game) and then bowl Worcestershire out twice with a seam attack of Magoffin, Jordan and Robinson with Zaidi and Wells as the fourth and fifth bowlers. Nash at 4 has scored runs which he wasn't doing as an opener. HH - We have Jordan, Shahzad and Robinson to do the Leach role. Yeah cos that's working a treat. Sorry CP but I don't understand any of that post, from 'why' to 'role'. The most laughable bit is Zaidi and Wells as fourth and fifth bowlers. Do we need a draw? Are we banking on beating Yorks at Headingly? Poor old Machan, best season ever, best batsman all year and he gets it in the neck.

Shahzad doesn't play, Wells and Zaidi don't get wickets. There's no doubt that Hobden (who also doesn't get wickets) does get no-balled. What's that American expression- do the moth?

By a process of elimination then, play Hudson-Prentice! You've then got an all rounder who's been getting Runs and wickets in the 2's. He's contracted, fit, young and hungry!

There is more chance of hell freezing over than Beer being picked in the championship team whilst Joyce and Robinson are captain and coach of Sussex. Our best chance of winning is with Zaidi and Wells by getting a score on the board and bowling them out twice. Magoffin, Jordan and Robinson and the first two in particular need to step up to the plate. Magoffin by his high standards has been poor in recent matches. He is bowling too short and needs to pitch the ball a couple of yards further up the pitch to induce the edge. At the moment they are playing and missing because it is too short. Machan's shot to the first ball and the way he got out to the second ball against Yorkshire simply wasn't good enough. If he is to have any chance of getting the 140 runs he needs to get 1,000 championship runs for the season he needs to get his head down and bat properly.

Zaidi is our most economical bowler the season and can give the three seamers more of a rest. Both Liddle and Hobden leak runs, don't get many wickets and can't bowl long spells.zaidis bowling average is also better. So is his batting.
Pity mags hasn't qualified and we can't get mitchell marsh.

None of the options for fourth or fifth bowler are that great, so Zaidi would probably just about shade it

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/teams/sussex/averagesSussex should pick their five best available bowlers. Based on the link that is Magoffin, Robinson, Jordan, Zaidi and Wells. Batting wise Brown, Machan and Wright will be looking to get 1,000 runs for the season. My team: Joyce (c), Wells, Machan, Nash, Yardy, Wright, Brown (+), Zaidi, Jordan, Robinson, Magoffin

No squad announcement yet from Sussex - I hope this doesn't mean that somebody vital has been injured in the recent frenzy of enforced idleness and they are waiting on a fitness report - but Worcestshire have named theirs, see below, and are clearly psyched up for the encounter as their news piece shows wccc.co.uk/news/ajmal-and-shantry-close-to-personal-milestones-ahead-of-huge-sussex-meeting Mitchell D'Oliveira Fell Clarke Gidman Whiteley Cox Leach Shantry Ajmal Morris Barnard For interest's sake, this is the team that Sussex beat so resoundingly on a fine spring morning at Hove a few months back. At least 5 changes of personeel: *DKH Mitchell RK Oliver TC Fell APR Gidman T Kohler-Cadmore AN Kervezee +OB Cox GM Andrew JD Shantry SMSM Senanayake CAJ Morris The weather forecast looks generally quite promising, with a little rain currently forecast for late afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Zaidi can bat and as a fourth bowler can keep it tight. Liddle can't bat, won't take any wickets and is more likely to go for loads of runs quickly. We need a specialist spinner. How many other counties are going into a four day game in September without a specialist spinner? NONE!
