Dark, wind getting up, looks like a deluge of yesterdays proportions heading in. If so that will be it for the night. Rain still holding off at the moment can but hope the heavy black clouds pass by and some sunshine follows it in. Not many locals left on site though. And fewer still when play restarted, at least in the stands

I know he will sweat a bit overnight but hopefully far better for Luke to hit the 100 mark in front of a few hundred tomorrow than in front of one man and his dog tonight.

I know he will sweat a bit overnight but hopefully far better for Luke to hit the 100 mark in front of a few hundred tomorrow than in front of one man and his dog tonight. Bowlers sweat. Batsmen perspire! Great partnership by Wright and Brown and hard to see how Sussex can lose from here. But two more batting pts and 16pts for the win are vital as Hants are in the box seat to beat Durham inside three days tomorrow, which would put them on 128 pts with a game in hand on both Worcs and Sussex. Although I don't think relegation would be the disaster that some suggest and much as I would enjoy the Narnia-world fantasy of Kent v Sussex at Tunbridge Wells and Sussex v Kent at Arundel next season, I hope Sussex stay up because players like Wright, Machan, Jordan, Magoffin, Robinson, Shahzad and Brown deserve to play against the best, not against the also-rans who make up the numbers in the lower echelons of Div Two.

BBC Weather has now revised its Worcester forecast to light cloud pretty continuously. Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Damn you light cloud.
Back in the real world, not too shabby thanks to a five man attack, I reckon, and a man who can't bat six - and Wright of course. Only atrocious weather or some seriously poor cricket can foil us from here. I remember what Wright was doing in his early twenties - not a lot, in the Champ at least. Lessons all over the shop here. Balance, youth and patience the buzz words for the day.
Starrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt as you meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeean to go on.

Can we have our fraudster back please? Some evil magician has replaced him with this milquetoast replica.

Fantastic partnership between wright and brown. Machan will be kicking himself for another poor shot. Do you not want 1,000 runs this season Matt? He still needs 108 and Ben has overtaken him now. I hope Nash is ok. As for our bowlers Jordan was superb but the others were mediocre.

There's some serious goatmouthing going on on this page. "Hard to see how Sussex can lose from here"!
This is a tricky pitch to bat on. The ball sometimes seems to stick in the surface and sometimes shoots through low. On the first day Sussex posted a field with a silly mid-on, a silly mid-off and a short extra cover. You don't do that when the ball is coming nicely onto the bat.
By the end of tomorrow it could be very difficult indeed. Even chasing a target of 100 in the fourth innings will be tough against the three excellent Worcestershire seamers.

There is a lot of work to be done today. Good luck to Wright and Brown in continuing what they have started, and to Nash who should be fit to follow them, per Robinson's video interview on the club news page.

The only way Sussex can lose from here is to be bowled out for under 150 in the fourth innings. I have faith that the batting has recovered its confidence and that won't happen - unless Ajmal returns to his old action and starts flexing his arm more than 16 per cent again!

50 for Brown, 100 for Luke, a mature innings from our next CC captain? Heres hoping Nash is OK to continue his inning and is next man in. 300 up, more points and it's raining at Durham.

Strange but true pointless fact of the day: the 4th wicket partnerships for Sussex this season have put on 1031 runs in the championship in 25 innings.....but 417 of those runs have come from two partnerships. Against Warwickshire at Birmingham Wright and Nash put on 166, and here Nash, Wright and Brown 251 to date.

Now on target for a fifth batting point. Is that the first time Sussex have got max batting pts this season (I have a vague recollection that we just missed the fifth point by one over at Edgbaston?)
