Splendid rearguard action by Zaidi. It's a lost cause but he's showing a lot of character. Probably playing for a new contract.

Lots of practice since we don't have a frontguard.

Already amongst the highest fees in division one so you wouldn't think so but I won't be holding my breath...

Already amongst the highest fees in division one so you wouldn't think so but I won't be holding my breath... Don't know if this is the right thread, but I heard several members at the last home match suggesting that it wouldn't be worth renewing next year. They'd apparently worked out it would be cheaper to pay at the gate, bearing in mind the scarcity of home CC matches in the summer.

Not a day for discussing membership fees. A day to reflect. Not a day for the coach to make excuses. A day to say 'perhaps we got somethings wrong'. A day for the CEO to consider the playing management's future. A day to think about plans for 2016.
Finally, FB, too late for Zaidi to play for a contract, should have been doing that all year. I'm sure he was playing for one all year as well. A whole hearted cricketer. Is he the future? No.

I realise I will be in a minority of one here, but I'm not that disappointed. It seems for the past few years we have been down the bottom of Div One, scrapping around, trying to avoid being relegated. Well, now we have been, maybe the management, coach, captain etc. will stop with the excuses and do something. A T20 quarter final, in which we were roundly thrashed, is the only achievement this season, our 50 over form was beyond shocking, and we subsided to relegation without a fight. Time for a rethink.

I follow your logic, MrsD. What really disappoints me is that many of us saw this coming - not just weeks, or even months ago - but over the past 12-18 months. Assuming the board are as perceptive as the rest of us, what action did they take to avoid what has been a slow but sure decline? Did they change the coaching staff? No. Did they appoint the right captain? No. When they eventually twigged that these changes had become necessary, did they act? No. This situation appears to be largely self inflicted - that's what really hurts. With only one promotion spot from Div 2 in future, it could be a long wait for Div 1 cricket again.

Well, you get what you deserve in a 16 match county championship season and no team deserves to go down more than we do. Stale, negative and poorly balanced, we've don't most things badly. Poor, uninspiring leadership, mind-boggling selections and recruitments through the season, we've hit new lows. Although the writing has been on the wall for the last three years, very familiar pattern just with a much worse ending this time round.
The most important thing now is to relieve Joyce of his captaincy duties and obviously, Robbo too. I don't think we need much in the way of player recruitment, a good time to trust some youth. So long Division One.
