Ummm...I think you just proved borderman's point. The England Women's team are not anybody's girls. Would you say that Root and Bairstow are Bayliss' boys? Yes. And yes they are. There's nothing at all in someone saying a woman is a clever girl, you plant-pot. The only point that's been proved is that you and BM, HH, are a couple of PC lefty do-gooders. Get a grip mate. Tricky stuff, language. Use it unthinkingly to express ideas and it ends up saying more about the user than than the subject. Yes, it matters that women are not patronised by being described as girls. No, there is no corresponding practice in male cricket. I think Ben Stokes would probably break a few more knuckles if you called him Boy. For the record I'm very impressed with the way that the England team has responded to the new regime and there seems to be a new attitude of fight. I hope it continues when they play against stronger opposition than Pakistan.

So according to you HH you can't say to a group of men 'well done boys' and you can't say to a group of women 'well done girls'. What is your major malfunction boy?
Step into the world of sport and away from whatever molehill you're making a mountain out of. You're a fool on this one 'son'.

Robinson must be tearing his hair out during today's ODI v the Windies. Chasing down 224, they were 133 for 1 and cruising. They're now 172 for 9, having suffered 4 (yes 4) run outs, all of them brainless by all accounts. Edit: England lose their last wicket - yep, it's another run out.

Well he did have a right old moan that they're weren't fit enough when he took over. It seems they still aren't. He should have coached them to run a bit faster!

By all accounts, most of the run outs were of the "Yes - No - Sorry" variety!

Cue the long-term decline in England Women's cricket. England will be significantly weaker without Edwards, Taylor and Greenway.

Edwards and Greenway sacked, Taylor on an 'indefinite break'. Surely odds are now against ST coming back to make it a trio of scalps for Robinson? Its pretty obvious this is all going to end in tears. What does the man think he is doing? There is one hell of a power struggle going on here in which gender is playing a substantial part. My prediction: Robinson will resign within 12 months and return to men's county cricket and Charlotte Edwards will be made head coach with a trio of male assistant coaches working under her... Wrong

A pretty universal Twitter response to this news, following the other "did she jump or was she pushed by a dour, unsmiling Yorkshireman" incidents. This is one I like: Tim Jones @timjonesbooks 1h1 hour ago
@crickether Mark Robinson's cunning plan to go into the 2017 World Cup with a team of 5-year-olds continues to take shape...
Still like it?

Yes indeed, credit where it’s due, he certainly turned around the fortunes of the women’s team. Well played Sir.
