If this is correct the starting XI could be: Nash Wright (c) Salt Machan Finch Cachopa (+) Beer Kulusakera Briggs Rahman Mills I guess, not much high tempo batting there though Won't Jordan be back by then? He'd go in at 7 .

Jordan for Briggs and that is the best T20 attack in the country
But given our batting it had better be!!!

We'll need a batter to replace Taylor asap otherwise we'll need to bowl the oppo out fot about 120 every time. What's Kholi up to in the back end of the 'summer'? Ever played for a county Virat? We're minted right?

FGS, enough is enough. I hope Sussex now realise how much they've been messed about. A farce indeed, joe.

So, what will happen:
1) he never arrives 2) he gets injured within 1-2 games 3) he gets hit all round the ground 4) he gets homesick and takes a plane home 5) he does ok 6) he does well 7) he does fantastically well, returns every year to become a hero

Sussex have been so very naive over this. Remember when I flagged up the Eid issue on here and Steve Hollis picked up on my post and put it to Toumasi - who blithely told him that Eid was "not an issue we have discussed"?
Why not, Zac???
1. Fizz was 'homesick' at the IPL and I said on this board five weeks ago that he would want to spend Eid at home with his family.
2. Now we learn the Eid holiday shut-down also meant he couldn't apply for his visa in time.
If (1) was down to ignorance then (2) is simply negligence. The visa should have been applied for weeks before Eid. But Toumasi insisted Eid was "not an issue".
s&f was saying weeks ago that Greenfield needed to fly to Dhaka to sort it out. Instead it was left to Luke Wright to tell us that Davis was "hoping for a phone call on Sunday week which will make things clearer". Of course, the Sunday in question passed without anything becoming any clearer.
Obvious sympathy for the club because there is no question Sussex have been messed about and the problem was compounded by the club's fortuner/misfortune in signing Fizz at a bargain basement price just before he became one of the hottest properties in world T20, which was a bit of a game-changer that could not have been predicted, like the Beatles being booked to play a church hall in 1963 and by the time the gig rolls around Please Please Me has gone to number one. But it's hard not to conclude that Toumasi and Davis have handled the issues with hopelessly amateurish ineptitude.

I said "I'll believe it when I see it" and I now repeat this for July 21st.
This Fizz debacle has become a humiliation for the club. Sussex CCC are now wallowing in victimhood because They refused to take control of the situation. Instead they allowed Fizz, his agent, the BCB and anyone else to remain in control and call the shots. If Greenfield had flown to Bangladesh as I suggested, a far clearer position would have been formed.
Is this ineptitude or simply a lack of initiative? Mark Davis remains with egg on his face as his repeated optimistic calls have proven to be hollow and naive.
The only person who seems to have come out of this with head held high is Luke Wright who stated a few weeks ago that, like me, he would only believe it when Fizz actually arrived at Hove.
While, some sympathy goes to the club, Sussex should have taken control. Playing the victim is an embarrassment for both the club and supporters.

It is incredible that this thread now runs to 12 pages - and for a player who may never turn up!!

From the Dhaka Tribune: "The delay was caused by the unusually long Eid vacation which meant that he had to wait till after the holidays to apply for the UK visa." www.dhakatribune.com/cricket/2016/jul/14/visa-woes-delay-fizzs-sussex-debut#sthash.ruPrw02N.dpufWhy did he "have to wait til after the holidays" ? The BCB and Sussex announed on June 30 that he was flying to England on July 13. Eid was on July 6 and the holiday lasted three days. Why was the application not made between June 30, when his air ticket was provisionally booked, and July 5? Sorry but someone somewhere is guilty of gross incompetence over this.

Sorry but someone somewhere is guilty of gross incompetence over this.Or that he or those responsible for his management decided at some stage following his signature for Sussex and during his triumphs in T20 for Bangladesh and then in the IPL that he no longer needed this type of career opportunity (or not at that price and a little anticipation does wonders to force up market pricing) and so resorted to a series of half-truths and evasions. Whether a failure to appreciate that this might happen or indeed is happening can be called gross incompetence or just abysmal naivety is a matter of personal preference.

In honesty, most of us don't care whether this guy shows up, or not. It's too late for him to have much impact in the competition he was primarily brought in for. More important, in my opinion, is that we find a decent replacement for Taylor. What I don't want to happen is, Taylor leaves, and then we are told we are looking for a replacement. Let's be a bit more proactive and have a seamless transition, by lining up an overseas all rounder who can step straight in

I think we've just seen evidence that gross incompetence and abysmal naivety needn't be mutually exclusive. Boris' first trip needs to be to Bangladesh.
