Flashblade,
I would suggest it's more HP than official.

If claiming that you know a "close acquaintance" is a source then I'm about to go planning all the exciting articles I can write.

I wonder if this comes under the remit of Mark Davis or our new DoC? Either way it would seem that a dialogue is needed pdq.

I wonder if this comes under the remit of Mark Davis or our new DoC?Either way it would seem that a dialogue is needed pdq. That was one of the key issues raised about Greenfield's appointment and the potential clash with a hands-on head coach; who would be in charge of making the crucial commercial decisions to strengthen the squad? Davis has once again come out with a "hopeful" soundbite, which is probably in keeping with his rather optimistic nature, but it lacks the determination of someone who has gone to the board and argues firmly for spending money on his choice and is determined that everything can and will be done to realise the benefits of that decision. "...we should know for sure what’s going on in the next couple of weeks.” suggests that he isn't in control of that process and it is possible that Greenfield isn't either. Perhaps the agent who brokered the deal - with Greenfield? Davis? Toumazi? - can answer it, but who is pushing him?

If I was Keith Greenfield I would be on a plane flying to India right now - first stop the Sunrisers Hyderabad hotel. Mr Fizz is such a talent it requires every possible way to persuade him to come to Hove.
I remember Chris Adams flew to South Africa to persuade RHB to move to Surrey and become the club's captain. Unfortunately, he was successful. If he hadn't made that flight RHB might well have remained at Sussex.
The least Greenfield can do is to emulate this move. It portrays a spirited respect and will show Rahman just how much Sussex want him. Has anyone seen Greenfield near an airport this week?

If he leaves it till Mr Fizz is back in Bangladesh the visa complexities alone will take for ever to unravel.

Hhs, Just realised my error and changed it as you posted. People are so damn quick on this Forum to reply, at times.

"... we should know for sure what’s going on in the next couple of weeks.” Way too late, Davo (is that what we're supposed to call him?). Did you not notice that Sussex's first T20 is in nine days time? If M Fiz won't confirm right now whether he intends to come or not, then sign someone else. Despatching 'Dapper Davo' or even 'Grubby Greeny' on a plane to go down and plead on bended knee to the Bangla princeling is a little demeaning. Yes, I'd love to see him in English cricket, but if he's not fully committed, then I'd suggest he's crap all use to Sussex, anyway. If the Bangla press is to be believed,we now know what Sussex are paying him - 30k (although I'm not entirely sure whether that is GBP or USD). Whatever the currency, if he is "the best bowler in the world at the moment", as 'Davo' claims in the Argus, then Sussex are paying a Lidl discounted cava price when he's actually Waitrose quality vintage champagne. 'The Fizzer' cannot be blamed for hedging his bets because he knows full well that the brilliance of his IPL performances has upped his price and he can now expect to earn double or even treble Sussex' pittance elsewhere. Someone will get injured and drop out of the CPL and my guess is that he will spend July playing for the Tallawahs or the Zouks rather than the Sharks. Meanwhile, anyone fancy a guess at the team for the first T20 v Glos in nine days time? Wright won't be fit and I'm assuming Jordan won't be back, so I'd predict this XI to get the campaign off to a losing start:- Nash Salt Machan Taylor Cachopa Finch Robinson Beer Shahzad Briggs Mills

Do we want Jordan back? He has bowled 7 wicketless overs in the last 2 games for RCB and gone for 89 runs at over 12 an over.
