Steve Hollis is in the same camp: Stephen Hollis stevehollis75 19m19 minutes ago No surprise that Craig Cachopa is leaving @sussexccc with a year left on his contract. Was a crazy decision to extend his deal last winter Hollis is in danger of losing his tea and cake. In the last few days he has accused the club of a "botched" job over the batting coach and now he's criticised one of Davis's first decisions about the playing squad as "crazy". Careful, Steve. You-know-who will be after you ! on edit: or was it Adrian Harms who said the Goodwin appointment was "botched"? No tea and cake for anyone at Hove next season, it seems! It's just a cunning plan to divert extra refreshments to the museum 'staff'.

Inevitable but always sad when a player leaves. I wish him well and hope he finds his mojo in New Zealand.

Inevitable but always sad when a player leaves. I wish him well and hope he finds his mojo in New Zealand. I agree, Joe. I thought he was terrific in his first season - he established himself so quickly. I can't pretend to understand why he lost his way, but I wish him all the best, and look forward to one day reading about his rejuvenated career in NZ.

The first steps towards that rejuvenation may have just been taken. Cachopa has returned to New Zealand Domestic cricket this season after a year away. His two first class games have brought only 40 runs from 4 innings, but he may have turned the corner in white-ball cricket, firstly with a 60 against Wellington in a 50 over game at the beginning of December, and today captaining Auckland to a 7 wicket Super Smash win against Otago, leading from the front with 52 not out in 35 balls. With half the games played Aucklanbd are currently top of the Super Smash table.

Good to see Cachopa doing well. He obviously has a talent. It was a huge disappointment in his time at Sussex that his form didn't just drop off but plummeted.
