I was being a little facetious. What I meant was Nash is sounding and coming over how a Vice-Captain should come over when the Captain is injured. Nash is the present hero of the Sussex batting unlike, to date, Ben Brown who is probably feeling the pressure. Really hope Ben can turn things around against Derbyshire. We need him to.
I completely agree with Bm, Taylor would be the ideal Captain until Wright returns, to steady the ship and give the captaincy experience and maturity, but Sussex are not a ruthless club.

This squad is more than good enough to win at Derby even without Wright and Jordan, no more excuses, just get out there and do the job. A win with maximum batting and bowling points will put us right back into contention.

Interesting. Having been told Briggs was an essential member of the side and was expected to play every single match, after three games he's been replaced by a batsman - which is frankly what figures of 3-306 deserve.
We now have the four man attack many of us were advocating, although it's very short on experience with both Hatchett and Whittingham in the side and Robinson in only his second season. A surprising decision to bat under the circs?

A surprising decision to bat under the circs? Odd that the only teams to take the toss award are those playing at East Midlands grounds: Northants have put Leicester in and have similarly strangled their batting and taken a wicket. Is there some sort of localised heavy cloud cover in this part of the country that makes it irresistibly tempting to bowl today? Assuming that Briggs gave way to a batsman, as we all supposed, and that Shahzad was unfit, what is the logic behind replacing Garton with Hatchett? Garton is much pacier and has given more trouble to experienced batsmen in 3 games than Hatchett has in his career.

And I recognise the irony and am, of course, delighted that Hatchett has taken a wicket, though it doesn't change my opinion. Perhaps I should just keep voicing it and then Hatchett will clean up?

Agree hh but, being a very young quick, I would imagine he is being managed carefully and is being rested for this one.

Much better since lunch. 78-3 now with wickets for Whittingham (1st in championship) and Magoffin. The cricinfo report suggested Sussex were unlucky not to have had more wickets this morning with Hughes beaten all over the place, streaky shots through slips and a drop by Brown off Hatchett. Time to focus now and use that green wicket. This should be a Magoffin special.

With the changes to the toss it takes some serious balls to prepare a wicket that green judging by the photo!
