Great start. If batting is our weakness then this is surprisingly good. Even Stoner's mate Brown's done good. Sixes all over the shop.

Borderman's postings will be increasingly difficult to follow this evening. Yes the Cachopa bottle (an Australian shiraz, couldn't find a NZ bottle in the cellar)) has almost gone and I shall be starting on the Ben Brown bottle (toss up between Costieres de Nimes and a Montepulciano) beffore the Glos innings starts... I've only just caught up with the Sussex game, after watching England bowl out SL and then a last ball win for Delhi Devils in the IPL...and my first check on the score finds Sussex on 150-3 with six overs to go and 200 on the cards. Didn't see that one coming. (Brown reprtedly stood his ground and objected to being stumped from a ball he thought was a wide? He's a keeper so he really ought to know the rules -surely he's done a few batsmen like that in his time!)

Why is Cachopa playing instead of Finch?

the inclusion of Cachopa a farce. Except that getting out for a golden duck in total of 242-5 really isn't v funny. Nor is the fact that the umbrellas are going up and rain could reduce Sussex's all time record T20 total to irrelevance...

What is the Duckworth Lewis rules? I've checked and both Duckworth and Lewis say Cachopa should not be selected.

Unbelievable. Off for rain after 7.3 overs and Sussex are winning by one run on D/L - so Will Beer's first three balls of the season yielding just one run, seem to have won Sussex only their second game in 25 matches...
Although actually the only reason Sussex have won is that Glos were penalised six runs for bowling their overs too slowly.
Sussex's season starts here on the back of a Glos cock-up?

If Prior were playing tonight you'd be on the port.

Arguably the reason Sussex have won is because #robbosrichlegacy-white-ball-ever-present Chris Liddle (two overs for 35) was happily playing for them and not for us...

Some serious batting from our OS relief captain today with excellent cameos from Salt, Brown, Nash and Machan. Mills and Briggs were a little wayward but you'd expect that when Glos were aware of the weather closing in and with a top class batsman like Klinger at the crease. Liddle was our best bowler of the night!
A wins a win. GOSBTS!

Great spell from Beer, match winner. Wonder if Glos knew what the crack was at that stage. Obviously a road but didn't know we had a score like that in us. Very well done by all.
We just need Wright back and a replacement for the lad who is 'homesick' or rather, had a call from his agent, and we'll take shape. A hard-hitting all-rounder to come in at six after Machan would sort out our middle order.
I didn't realise we go back to Champ cricket next, already, then a couple of T20s and then an RLC game - I look forward to the time when the season isn't scheduled by a simpleton.

Was at the game. Some truly ferocious hitting from Taylor who hit some absolutely huge sixes. Salt looks to be a very useful batsman. Ben Brown played a very nice innings and was unlucky to be stumped off a ricochet from the keeper's pads. This however did not stop the PA at the ground from declaring it a "Great Stumping".
Machan went in with a licence to hit out and did well. Cachopa's wretched run of form continues as he was caught in two minds coming in late in the innings and fluffed a half cut to backward point. He is a very talented batsman but he needs some confidence building games in the 2's without the captaincy.
The bowling was indifferent in admittedly very tough conditions and Briggs struggled with the wet ball. Klinger looks to be in the same form as last year and will doubtlessly carry an otherwise mediocre Gloucestershire side to a few victories.
Fire away with the questions

Fire away with the questions Glos might be "mediocre" (indeed, the entire T20 Blast is "mediocre" according to ECB chairman Colin 'Gerald Ratner' Gaves). But here's my question: is the joy of such a rare victory slightly tempered by the fact that if Glos had been 90 seconds quicker in bowling their first 19 overs and hadn't received a six run penalty for it, Sussex would have lost ?

This would bring in the debate on why D/L is utter bull**** in T20 cricket. It takes the actual game out of he equation somewhat and severely favours the team batting second. We've been shafted by it in our time and it's about time we had some luck with it.
The over rate was very slow. There was a clear cutoff time on the scoreboard and it got pushed back for the numerous lost balls. If this had swung the other way then it would be a bitter moral victory as in a non rain affectes game I feel we would have restricted them to 190-200. But then without rain they would probably had a bat and we are dealing in hypotheticals.
